Yes and I am surprised there was no uproar(maybe there was) especially considering the toads

it's all over the draft BA...they will have flippen tunnels under the road for them if they get their way

I think 600 students is highly optimistic. The resultant overloaded taxi duelling along Chappies should see at least one go over the edge per month. This should keep the numbers down.

That side of the world is being built up so fast,  the roads and services have not kept up. They need more facitlites in the valley to support those living there.

Fair enough, hubbers know best  ^_^

In general though I would not give the City the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the enviromental impact of new developments

Not generally up to the city to decide on environmental impacts/environmental authorisation applications (that's up to the provincial or national environmental department). However, they are a commenting authority on Environmental Authorisation applications via their Environmental and Heritage Management branches. And let me tell you something, there are some real tree huggers in some of those E&HM branches.  I can't comment on planning applications though.

Open the school, and put the kids on bikes to get there I say.!

Btw, one of the schools in Ocean View has a cycling program and the kids just got back from Oudtshoorn where the girls collected a huge load of medals.

I'm guessing this is a private, fee paying school not a public institution.

This was my thought as well. Another entrant into the highly competitive private education market. That said, not sure how a school in noordhoek is going to increase traffic on chappies. I'm sure it aims to attract students from noordhoek, kommetjie, fish home etc.

That said, any new development needs to scrutinise especially with regard to it's impact on infrastructure. Cape Town has a Serious traffic problem and water shortage which can both be attributed, in part, to increased development without Improvements in infrastructure.
