So I had a broken arm last year as well.I endured 2 ops and I just let it go to the point of staring down a dark pit of depression. I also felt like I would NEVER get back to fitness again. If you have access to an IDT, then my advice would be to use it as soon as it would be safe to. It will make a tremendous difference to your general wellbeing, as well as keeping you fit, even if just putting in the hours to get over the boredom of being "broken and at home because of it". Since January this year, I really only rode now and then, as my fitness was severely depleted, and I just struggled to get myself going. In the last 2.5 months though I turned things around to the point of being pretty ride fit, and I now average 7 hours a week in a mix of IDT and Saturday rides. Bring on K2C. You will ride again. Keep the stoke.

I hope you get well soon.

I once asked a doctor about the enjoyment of being fit. He told me that endorphines produced when exercising are as addictive as some hardcore drugs. ie, without them you are going to have some very dark days before getting back to normal. They're sometimes referred to as the brain's "feel-good" chemicals, and are the body's natural painkillers. Endorphins help relieve pain and induce feelings of pleasure or euphoria. So the obvious withdrawal symptoms exist when you stop... It's characterized by feelings of depression, anxiousness, restless, or guilty after not exercising.

So dont get down on yourself... its a bit of a rough road getting back to where you were but its worth it in the end.

Kindle is my friend. So is my HiFi Man DAP and headphones. And I just love my raised toilet seat and my crutches. Also - not all uber drivers are created equal - another lesson from this experience.

And my cats love it when I sit still in one place for a long time.

Same boat right now for 3 weeks. Got bruised ribs or something (didn't go to doc as thy can't to anything anyway). Which was preceded by another 3 due to a cold/flu.

2015 had me out for 6 months due to shoulder. It's depressing to say the least.

Insanity won here. Put up a fight, but got my ass kicked. Now my mind just wanders like a small child left unattended.

Got Guillane-Barre syndrome in first week of September last year. The only wheels I'm rocking have two large wheels and two small. Nowhere near as fun as a bike.

Maybe physical therapy will have me walking by the end of the year. Maybe not.

I'm sorry for being such a buzz-kill. It did help to vent though. Non-cyclists just don't understand how much it hurts to see my bikes and not be able to go for a ride...

Jeez that's hectic, any idea what set of the Guillane-Barre? All the best.

Thank you :) Despite the rant I really am trying to stay positive.

It was caused by flu I had about 2 weeks prior to onset of symptoms. Due to overlapping symptoms it could not be clearly classified as one of the subtypes, but apparently this is often the case. I was one of the small percentage of sufferers with exaggerated reflexes preceding complete paralysis. Upper body is mostly okay now with exception of hand tremors.

Broke ulna, elbow had pins. My brother borrowed me his idt and I joined trainer road. (Don't have internet at home so couldn't do zwift). Enjoyed the idt and power stuff, Got my FTP to 270 watts. Got on the road bike after 2 months and it was like I was never gone. The fomo would have been worse if I didn't have idt and probably would have lost my mind
