I always say hi and don't expect anything back. But just going past me stranded just shows me that we have become pretty selfish. Or not !!

Expecting a greeting back is selfish because it means you greeted him to feel good about yourself. As for the chain-break, he might not have time to help, he may have to get to work, go feed the kids, or he just doesn't want to and that is also ok. ACTUALLY, it’s not okIMO Maybe he was just short sighted, that’s about the only excuse for behaving like a TJOP

There is a guy and his wife that have been living up the road for the same time if not longer that run in the afternoons around the same time I get home from work. I see them most days and we make eye contact. I wave and get the death stare... Now I ignore them. Some people are just unfriendly gits. According to the trend of the last 4 pages you need to show more empathy before calling them gits and bringing it up on the hub Unbelievable faux pas for such a senior hubber
