Back to the topic, this thread did make me "reflect" on my own habits, and realised I am on the other extreme, most times (agreed not always) I greet everyone.. that include all using a bike (both the recreational, and guy on his way to work), joggers, dog walkers, heck even pedestrians gets a nod, lifting of my fingers from the handlebars, etc.

I always thought "hold your line" and "passing on the right" was the normal everyday greeting

Nope.... a max volume yell of "TRRRAAAAACKK" is the traditional greeting.... try it... it works occasionally...

What is the priority list? Where does STRAAVVAAA fit in the list?

Plenty of people dont greet, used to think they were chops for not greeting, now couldnt give a .

Sometimes I greet, and sometimes I guess i'm a chop.

Its amazing how much of a relief you will feel when you dont care about what other people think.

Ā

Generally dont greet runners, they mostly have earphones in or dont greet either.

Ā

Howzit for most other riders, unless they look like they in stealth bomber mode taking themselves way too seriously, then I normally just mind my own business.

Ā

Strangely do not feel any different after my ride weather I had greeted everyone or not.

A riding buddy used to greet with a "hello", and then get as close as possible and shout a second "HELLO!!!" at max volume.

Should have added: if the first greeting was ignored"

I must have ridden passed this "chop" yesterday. Passed him going in the opposite direction and we nodded/waved at each other which was all good. Then a few min later we saw each other again, this time I didn'tĀ get a wave or nod. I was so p!$$ed off I sommer turned around and went home. Who does that?????

I must be honest, if some guy screams at me because I didn't greet back, I would be less than chuffed.

Ā

People have no obligation to greet anybody, but you have no right to shout at me.

Ā

If this insecure guy needs people to pretend to like him and give him some attention, he should go to Teazers.

Whether you greet or acknowledge someone is really a personal thing, BUT when I go bushwaking for you so that you can stay on the singletrack coming from the opposite direction and you cant be bothered to say "Thank you".... that P!sses me off no end... thats just common courtesy !!!
