Again lovely live streaming again today. Never had it so good with the coverage... I dont think you can write anyone off within 5 mins of the leaders. A good day from Cool Harvey and they'll take the lead. That said, both Githa and Kate are the weaker links there and so far Kate seems to be handling it better. Does open up the women's race a bit which I like.

I see R82900 entry fee for next year and early bird closes in 6 days

So here's a new metric: R/km.

Given that the epic will be down to 500km next year (  ), that makes it R165.80/km which is not much short of the fuel burn rate of a Boeing 747 / km.

Not quite.... 2 riders per team, thats 2km for every 1km, technically. so its R82.90 per km. Thats if its 500km, Not likely. Yes its expensive, but the memories are epic. It led to me having my first child. a epic baby......

To be honest I envy people being able to do long multi day stage races. Finances aside, I would love to be able to do it. But my health is seeming to be making a turn for the worst in the past year (I still need to see the doc to find out what is wrong with me) and I just don't see me ever being able to do an Epic. Hell, I struggled just doing the Helderberg Red route this past Sunday.

For those with the health, I would make a plan to get the finances to do something like the Epic. You never know when you will lose the physical ability to do something like the Epic.

So after a hard days riding you were still up for some more riding?

I was waiting for someone to pick up the flaw in the logic - but then again, a 747 carries 600+ people ;)

But the Epic is cheap compared to a kid, let's face it...

Nah, he left his wife home alone for 8 days while his bits took a pounding in the saddle...

Just kidding

People always say the noises in tent city keep you up at night, and you clearly found it hard to sleep.

Which one is better after a hard ride, a Red Bull, a Coke or Monster Energy drink?

I must say, I cannot stomach Red Bull or Monster Energy drinks and prefer a coke or even better, an ice cold beer or two or three after a long hot ride...

I see all the Red Bull sponsored riders drinking a Red Bull after a hard effort and don't see any Coke or Monster Energy sponsored riders

You should know that Red Bull / Monster do send their athletes water in Red Bull / Moster labeled cans.

Got to earn those marketing $, now don't you.
