Re. the tyres - they're still at the front of the race.  May be a double-edged sword - fast, but (maybe) fragile?

As in, are they at the front of race due to, or in spite of, the tyres...?

I think there are definite tradeoffs

what's weird is that they always seem to fix the sidewall cuts quite quickly, I'm surprised there aren't more show stoppers with the amount of issues they have.

BUT in saying this, songo have got a bit of a cushion now, should they put some more conservative tyres on and play it safe? it just seems like they will get more punctures than everyone else, so the game is never up. (and susi was saying on camera that it's just basically bad luck...ostrich!)

Weren't Cross-marks(?) designed by Susi for Epic.  They're pretty bullet-proof.  Throw stones in your back pockets tho.  Or in the teeth of people behind you...

Yep. From what i saw at the Prologue, the Spaz Epic was the most popular bike by far.

Likely a direct result of them dominating the event for much of the last decade...

It's amazing how well prepared the Spez teams always are - it almost doesn't seem to matter who is riding, they will be the best? Do they buy all the talent early on, or do they prep their riders the best?

Coverage of women's race seems to be lacking - wind issues?

Quiet a bit now of coverage of the end, even had Ariane on discussing the race and giving some input, and that after Jenni gave her views yesterday.

JB used to moan about how popular they were...designed around the swiss flag, used to grate his carrot six love, but was probably the best ever selling 26" tyre in these parts. I think spaz started taking their tyres seriously again in this timeline.

It's interesting that Spez don't have a backup team here when they always used to(last years grotts was on it), nor do cannondale.

canyon got one, centurion too

bulls got two

scott also had two.

seems to be an important part of race prep for me, but obviously a concsious decision not to bother.

What happened today with Masters Wilier Force?

69-1 Massimo Debertolis

69-2 Ondrej Fojtik

I put them in my fantasy pick, that is what happened.

I think it was Susi who mentioned that the problem with backup teams is that if they can't keep up, they're not going to help you win. Maybe the cost of a second team is not worth the benefit they can provide.

Where are the SA riders in the GC? vooitog

I think I may get flogged for saying this..but the SA/Africa whatever it is called category may be doing SA riders more harm than good. ..they just have to test themselves against the guy they race week in and week out locally and not the very best..

I feel for Beukes and Buys, I really think they had a shot at a GC win this year (albeit a small chance). Would have been interesting to see how they would have fared this week.
