That would have been around the height of the white population.

There IS no census data for 1868 because South Africa was not a single country back then and the various newly created Boer Republics didn't have censuses and some of the African Kingdoms were still independent. But whites would not have been close to 50% nationwide.

AS for entitlement as you explain it, yes and no. Remember that the Irish who went to America were at first oppressed. Then the whites (a majority) oppressed the blacks (a minority) ie slavery. Can slavery be used as an excuse for U.S. blacks to murder and attack U.S. whites and rob them and take their land and property without compensation? The Germans murdered millions of Jews, should Jews use this as a reason to attack Germans today?

 

In SA the whites a minority oppressed the blacks a majority. IF you read the population stats blacks were not a huge majority until relatively recently edged on by ANC rhetoric about no education (suddenly now they want free education, white man's education too) and about having kids lots of kids and leading to violent political freedom. 

 

You either make a plan and move forward and get on with it, or you make an excuse and live in the past?

 

A lot of this violence seems to have flared up with the land issue and Malema and the Black land movement etc. Blacks want land. But whether black or white do you not need to work for land and buy land?

 

Interestingly under Apartheid when the Nats created the Bantustans, these 10 areas comprised almost 50% then of SA's arable land. Yet black farms there were in poor condition due to over grazing and resultant soil erosion. Not easy to just take land and farm. This was a major reason why many black men left the so called homelands and went to work in white mines where they were paid (ie not slaves as many American blacks were slaves) and left their families behind. This labour migration as we know now set the seeds for a breakdown in the black family network with men absent from families and so on.

 

Todays PDIs - many of them are young, look at the population stats, and many were not even alive when apartheid began to end in 1989/90. 

 

As for advantaged individuals and therapy, it seems all South Africans black and white need counselling. Way too much tension in this country you see it all over. Road rage is just one obvious expression. Anyone I know who is successful has worked hard to get there- I don't know any white people who were handed millions by the Govt- though today the black ANC Govt does hand millions out only to blacks based on contacts and tenders- we call this corruption and nepotism and wastage and fraud and inefficiency. 

 

I have hiked the Transkei/Wild Coast which is a beautiful area of rolling green hills with rivers and streams everywhere- fish in the rivers and fish in the sea. Rich farmland where you can easily farm with plentiful rainfall. Forests and trees to use to build your cabin, or mud huts if you so choose. What an idyllic lifestyle- you have top wealthy company execs who work hard until 70 and then retired to such places for such a lifestyle.

 

Mass urbanization is not always the answer. The white man's city life is not always the answer- white liberals try push the white man's way of life onto the black man or red indian or aborigine- why? Which is superior? Neither is. Blacks living a rural life of subsistence is not a bad thing- you don't need money or a bank account- you grow live trade barter eat sleep and can be very happy and stress free.

 

Rural dwellers who flock to cities with no city skills will not find jobs or places to stay- they get frustrated angry and turn to crime. The ANC Govt does not have large programmes in place to address this and are not interested. Alex today is not much better than the Alex of 1980.

 

It is simply just not as simple as you make out. And it is NOT an excuse for violent attacks on  whites whatever they earn, by blacks whatever they earn or wherever they live.

Your statistic of 50%of the arable land is just plain wrong, but not as wrong as your knowledge of either economics or history.

 

The rise of commercial agriculture required access to capital. Without it, you can't buy seed to plant or implements to work the land. You cant build infrastructure, plant groves, you can do very little to improve your land beyond subsistence farming.

 

To build capital you need access to funding, typically loan funding from a bank. To access the funding you need security and in agriculture this is invariably provided by the title deed of your farm.  

 

The 1913 Land act that set aside the areas that broadly became the "homelands" precluded by law the individual ownership of land by black people. They could never get title to the land they worked. Without title, no loan, without loan no expansion, without expansion no capital creation.

 

You are clearly unaware of the support, financial, logistical  and by market manipulation the previous governments gave white farmers. That and hard work built the farms. Hard work alone without the prospect of wealth creation was reserved for black people.

 

And your characterisation of the source and purpose behind the migrant labour system defies belief. The legal system and the land ownership situation was inter alia designed to ensure that there was a bountiful supply of desperate men prepared to forsake their families  for a worker's wage in the mines.

 

Again, laws (you may not be aware of the Job Reservation acts) were promulgated to ensure that no career progress was possible, no matter how hard you worked or how good you were at your job. Dispossessed of your land and dispossessed of a chance of a career. And you chalk it up as the result of "over grazing" ? if only life were as simple.

Abstract

Wicherts, Dolan, and van der Maas (2009) contend that the average IQ of sub-Saharan Africans is about 80. A critical evaluation of the studies presented by WDM shows that many of these are based on unrepresentative elite samples. We show that studies of 29 acceptably representative samples on tests other than the Progressive Matrices give a sub-Saharan Africa IQ of 69; studies of the most satisfactory representative samples on the Standard Progressive Matrices give an IQ of 66; studies of 23 acceptably representative samples on the Colored Progressive Matrices give an IQ of 71. The international studies of mathematics, science, and reading give a sub-Saharan African IQ of 66. The four data sets can be averaged to give an IQ of 68 as the best reading of the IQ in sub-Saharan Africa."

Point taken on land history it is complex. I did mention that the migrant labour system helped to cause the breakdown of the black family structure with males being absent for extended time periods. I am not a farmer. But I wonder where this is all leading with increasingly violent rhetoric from the Eff and Blm and others who deny white people any sense of belonging in a country they were born in.

 

I wonder how much crime in and around urban areas or more rural areas is opportunistic or planned or based on desperation.

 

The violent nature of crimes today where often nothing is stolen may or may not be perpetrated out of desperation. It may be that the history of this country has caused such anger and damage such that these crimes may be some sort of revenge act in a way.

 

So how do you solve that.....

 

Was the perpetrator of the murder in Fish Hoek desperate? So if I am feeling desperate in life I can go murder someone. He didn't have to murder the guy to get his bike.

 

And if he wasn't desperate? How do you stop opportunistic or planned crime in a country with generally lax policing and a very low conviction rate combined with continuing mass urbanisation?

 

My point about the black population explosion which cannot be denied is that it along with mass urbanisation it creates shanty towns which require basic services such as water power sanitation etc

 

Many of the violent protests have been due to lack of service delivery. Yet the protesters vote the same people back into power.

 

Lack of basic services in Cape Town is reflected in the water crisis but that is another topic on its own. It is political though and an Anc power play.

 

So you have shanty towns with inhabitants who may be desperate and may have issues from the past that cause hurt and anger yet many of these places weren't there a few years back...

 

where did all these people come from? hence my comment about subsistence living in rural areas where soil water rain fish cattle sheep are all abundant.

 

in any case.. Looking forward.. What is the solution?

 

The Soviets withdrew from East Germany and eventually from the Baltic states and today these areas are awesome places to visit. The Soviet occupation took its toll but they bounced back.

 

Apartheid has been over for 27 years. The Anc has been in power for that time. What programmes do they have in place to sort this out? To redress the land laws effects of the past. And to address todays urban problems. Looking at how they seemed to have allowed cape town to get into the water mess its in as an act of callousness against a DA run city.. and the racist anti white rhetoric coming from their allied camps.. which is finally making overseas headline news... which seems bent on taking revenge against the small white minority... and slowly but increasingly so... then.. What is the solution?
