SRAM is an acronym comprising the names of its founders, Scott, Ray, and Sam

 

and at one stage Sram was partly South African Owned.

No, the Cannondale Motorcycle was a P.O.S, there is a reason it never lasted. Cannondale's entire marketting ploy is directly opposite to what most modern dirtbike suspension is doing by releasing separate function forks.

Completely separate companies. The only link is that Rob Roskopp(sp?), who started Santa Cruz Bikes, was a pro skater for Santa Cruz Skateboards in the 80's. ;)

Kia made bicycles in the 70's, went bankrupt and then Hyundai (if I remember correctly the CEOs was brothers) bought the brand over and started to use it on cars.

Korea asked Hyundai to bail Kia out.

Hyundai also make bikes

In an era where last year's standard is this year's obsolescence, two of cycling's most enduring advances were designed by Tullio Campagnolo more than 80 years ago, both are still in current use on top end bicycles:

 

The quick release and the parallelogram rear derraileur have both stood the test of time.

 

I wonder how we will view OD2 or boost in 85 years time......

Shimano make fishing kit, and have reels called Tiagra and Ultegra...

 Oddly enough, I approached this discovery from the other direction about 10 years ago. "What? Shimano make bike stuff and they have shifters with the same name as my bass fishing reels"
