Gravel bikes - what do you have and where did you buy it?

Imagine pinching the inside of your thigh in that when it flexes.

it doesn't flex that much. well, if you did make it flex that much, you'd have bigger issues. like a saddle probe where no saddle was meant to to go

Have done a few upgrades recently one of which is the Curve flared bar, love it ....Just fitted some 27.5 HED Wheels with 47c tyres and as an added bonus shed over 1/2 kg of rotational weight . Feels really spritely on my little tester up the road.

Can’t wait to test them properly

Thanks to hubber urbanninja for the wheels

Noob question. apols...

Is there something hidden inside that massive front fork/head tube? Is there some sort of dampening or such witchcraft, or is it just big for strength?

Very cool looking bike though.

Or consider shimano? 10 sp sti works with 9-sp MTB RD. As does 9sp sti incidentally. Cheaper to source perhaps?

Hi man,

9 speed just feels like it will be too little especially if I am doing a big ass climb don't you think? And if there's some weight to the bicycle? Meaning if I do some bikepacking

Yes it does, factory specs says it flexes up to 14 degrees.

Its a Niner,witchcraft is very likely .

Niner do build there bikes to mountain bike standards , whatever that may be . So they are solidly built and plenty robust .

The steel soaks up a lot of the chatter so doesn’t really need suspension in my opinion. As long as you don’t mind the weight ,which I don’t .

That’s my best guess anyway ????

10 sp sti and 9 sp mtb rd gives you 10 speeds. One of those shimano things...

But 9 sp (2×9) on its own even for climbing or bike packing imo would be fine. Big granny with an rd extender, if necessary and just accept the jumps in the cassette. It's not as if you're racing and looking for an optimal gear?

Ahh I see. Gotta love Shimano :)

And yeah, this is definitely not a build that I want for crazy high speeds. Definitely want to use it more off road and for climbs and things.

Thanks. I'll definitely look into that

To give you an idea I run 10 sp sti and 9 sp mtb rd as 2x10 on 50/34 and 11/36. As is...no problem. I want to drop to 11/40 and if the Rd gives me grief I'll use a Rapide Rd extender (<R200) to work around. Run the bike for bike-packing, touring and gravel grinding. I just accept that I spin a little more or grind a little more due to jumps in gearing.

Well done on the Brother Kepler frame.

I also had my eyes on it, but my bank balance said no to that idea.

I have also run 10sp shifter with 9sp rear derailleur and can confirm it works.

Enjoy the build.

it's a Garbaruk with oversize pulleys, same as his 10/50 11 speed cassette

High quality stuff

Top quality indeed . Love it ????????..... Wayne is a man with fine taste in bike parts .

Mucking around with a few things like I normally do ... Trying a 42 single speed chainring. 9sp Sora STI's with 9sp SLX MTB RD and put the Rapide flared bar back on.

Hoping the chain will stay on485d37e977019b22011063255a952e88.jpg23ce8e4f3e9a6223b6f70c5c7f04fd58.jpg

Put flat bars and some 26 on there and you have done a Jurassic Park, “life will find a way”, and brought back my 1994 Giant Sedona! If I were you, I’d keep an eye out for a T1000 lurking around the house. Edited by Patchelicious
