Flared gives you the best of both worlds. Narrow at the top and inline with your shoulder width for comfort but wide at the bottom to help with technical riding.

Yeah that flare really feels incredibly controlled and comfortable... So much so I've toyed with the idea of putting them on the roadie... The hoods jaunty angle always seemed strange before i rode them, but somehow they actually feel more comfortable too....

I haven’t ridden my roadbike since the CTCT and recently went to the shop on it out of guilt - 2km just to get rid of the guilt. I was thinking this thing needs flared bars

And if you are running Sram 1 x 11 shifters on your gravel rig consider the Ratio upgrade kit which converts them to 1 x 12... for R1200 it is a great upgrade. Mine just landed so will update you.

Please give more details on where you get it from!!

I'm not sure whether there is a retailer in South Africa, but here in Namibia we get the Norco Search and Search XR (the one with wider tyre space) from Mannie (Mannie's Bike Mecca).

I really like my Search and I like the brand too. They are Canadian, and there seems to be something humble and honest about them. Norco seems to specialise in the offroad section from Gravel to MTB - and they make some cracker mountain bikes!

If you need more info, hit me up or check out their website.

Looking for recommendations for handlebar bag...must accommodate out-front Garmin with bike light underneath...would re-locate them for the right bag tho,

Waterproof

Accessible while riding ie no struggle with zip, rather a magnetic type flap

Side pockets ie not a role-up

Fit between flared drops

Does such a thing exist?

Gravel cycling is fast becoming like those GS riders who dress like they are doing the Dakar when going for coffee on a Sunday morning.

I just love the fact that I've finally found a use for the surf clothes I refuse to wear as a surfer

I'm looking forward to taking up the next fad in my toight Assos kit and bright pink bicycling shirts
