Good morning Guys, I have created an online race tomorrow evening, 19:00 - Canyonville(rouvy) very flat.

Please go and download the route first, please invite an many as possible - smart trainers only, this will be more of a group ride than a race.

Thanks, will be tight for me as we are 1 hr behind SA time... but should make it just in time ????

Am looking in pulling the trigger on a smart trainer the end of the month.  Currently looking at the various options I will propably be going the Rouvy route as well in which case I will propapbly like to meet up on some virtual rides soon.  Swissvan have you got some nice Swiss routes available ;)?

Just a few local rides around my neighbourhood

There are plenty world wide routes to choose from in the Rouvy menu

Hope to see you there one day

I searched for routes/activities, and I saw one created by Frosty some time ago and gave it a bash.

What’s Frosty’s route called?

I’ve also added a few of my routes, try the one called “ “Zug Riviera” if you want some short hard climbs with flats in between to recover.....

As this thread popped up on the front page, I thought I'd give it a read, and turns out the last unread comment was mecheng89's post.

The only routes I can vaguely remember were:

  1. The short Argus route (2015), the one that went down the Blue route, turned around and returned to the finish;
  2. Clarence Drive from Gordon's Bay to Pringle Bay (this had a video, so it might have been someone else's route). I remember stealing someone's Strava KOM as I was on a PowerOps Super Magneto "dumb" traininer that uses the speed/cadence sensor to determine the power (depending on which of the 4 resistance settings it used).

After resetting my password, I logged in, and can't find any created routes. I wonder if I have another account, as my current account only has a few "free rides" logged using Rouvy. My Strava rides are there, for both activities, but I can't find it on the Rouvy app on my aging Samsung tablet.

I ride using workouts downloaded onto my Garmin. I have about 25 different workouts that I’ve added to GC based on training plans I’ve received (coach and free online). As my power meter is crank based, and bike mounted on a dumb trainer, most of the online apps don’t allow me to take part, so I don’t feel the need to pay for a subscription.

I tried Rouvy, before is was known as Rouvy. The CycleOps website used to have the link to the platform (on an Android tablet). It would also drop power, randomly, through the ride and the support guys could never get to the bottom of the problem. Another reason why I didn’t want to continue paying for software that was a potential problem. I liked that I could ride virtual routes with/without video pretty much anywhere, compared to the routes that Zwift offers (not that I’ve ever tried Zwift (my trainer doesn’t work on their platform).

That was 2014-2015, so I’m sure things have improved a lot since then. As I am typing, I also remember that I rode the M7 climb on the Tour D’Urban route using Rouvy. That is such a lekker climb, even though it hurts like hell.

As for me... I still workout using the trainer (2-3 days per week), using the same 2007 bike with a 2015 4iiii PM, but I’m less serious about my racing and more interested in keeping fit. Do I need to be entertained on a screen? Not really.

If you want a load more workouts, take a look at https://trainerday.com/ use to be ERGDB and is open source.  Has recently added a section for training plans (early Dec 2019), there are a few plans uploaded already and am sure in time there will be plenty.

I have used Rouvy/Virtugo/RGT/Kinomap etc with a smart trainer and have also used my Edge 520 with a fluid trainer and PM (which works surprisingly well).

Now I use Golden Cheetah train mode with a Kickr core and have over 400 workouts and probably 12 or more training plans from various sources TT/Flats/Climber/All Rounder/FTP Builder/Zwift Academy/Power Builder/Criterium/Sprinter etc.

It seems like thieves have thrown a spanner in my works, we do not have power at home and Ekurhuleni says they do not know the time it will take to restore.

Bugger!  I would so love to join but doubt I will make this session.  Please, please, please, keep me updated with all future group rides.

Great initiative!

I will post as I do group rides, I will call it "Bikehub SA" rides/Races if Admin does not have a problem with it, I will also investigate the Discort functionality.

As I said, I might not be able to join tonight as Electricity is a problem currently.

Recently found Trainerday. Great workouts, started doing some by sending it to Trainingpeaks which then shows up in Rouvy.

Still trying to get my head around Golden Cheetah, haven't been able make any sense of it yet
