Woke up this morning with a sore throat and no energy.

I felt like that on Monday so I know it sucks ,Good luck for tomorrow Just make sure to stay hydrated.

Our local pharmacist says there’s a few proper nasty’s doing the rounds at the monent. Mine started yesterday afternoon at work, and still no change - splitting ear-ache, sore throat, fever, aches. Taking an effervescent flu cocktail every 4 hours, had a Neurobian jab this morning, and in bed now - trying to get well enough to ride tomorrow.

The punchline, off course, is that I’ve not been sick one day in the last four years, and have been training for 3 months towards this race - you’ve gotta laugh at the irony

Lol , that sucks! Chances are you'll be 100% come Monday.

Your condition sounds rough though.

IF you where officially allowed to and start in DL OR your own earlier group than DL and still do a double lap I am sure most would pay a small fee to be allowed to do so. I understand that DL should be the last group allowed to double lap but if the earlier groups wanted to do their own race and then double for charity or whatever reason I think it should be allowed and the proceeds of the double lap cost could be nominated by the entrant as to which charity it should go to.

However I think the issue is more a issue with logistics with the timing mats and multiple readings from more than just the DL bunch that is the real problem to manage.

And those that do the double anyway to go help your charities after racing your cat race - I tip my hat - legal or not - well done.

This will be my first race and I'm just wondering how tough this route actually is if some okes can do it twice .

Don't know how people do this twice, believe me it is tough.

Think about this question when you get to the finish.

For the guys that race through the year, this is just another race. It’s not a difficult course, only made harder by the pace. A second lap is usually at a more sedate pace, and can be fun at the same time.

Yep, Murphy’s Law - better by Monday.

Will see how I feel at 05H00 tomorrow before I make the call (and keep close watch on heart-rate, if I ride)

All the best for your race!

Feeling better after a 2 hour nap and some muti.

Heart rate still higher than normal so will drop back and ride with mates.

The main issue with the 2nd Lap is the time of day, f#&*en hot! Especially tomorrow! 1st Lap last year was absolutely lovely to ride, Temperatures were great and people rode predictably.

2nd lap was the exact opposite, thus that I am not doing it again this year, but I am riding and contributing towards Qhubeka again.

Guys doing 2nd Lap illegally: just step up and contribute to a charity and do your 2nd Lap legally next year.

Enjoy the race everyone. With it being the first time on this route, it will be a PB if you finish. ;) Maybe take it with a chilled attitude, then you can beat it next time out.

I know what the rules say about double laps. I have done it through a charity and unofficially. When I did it via charity, I had to start in DL and was not allowed to start VA - organisers told me if I start VA I cannot do the double. Comes back to the rule of not starting ahead of your assigned batch, but you can drop back.

So the next year I did it unofficially. And my charity was simple - I rode and pushed strugglers up the hills, gave words of encouragement, tried to help people with mechanicals. I was more of a sweeper than anything else. Is this not charity?
