  1. 1. Do you do it?

    • I only text when I am stationary at traffic light, I know it is still illegal but I pay the fine and it has nothing to do with you.

    • I only use my phone when I need the GPS function, yes it illegal but I need to find my destination.

Every single person in this thread has used their phone while driving recently. Even if it's to answer a Bluetooth connected call or glance at a message that pops up... Or responded with a quick yes or no... If you say you haven't you're lying.

Assume Much do we ?

I plug my phone into the usb socket of my car. I switch over to android auto and enjoy the view.

I will make and receive calls via the steering controls.

I don’t text while driving anymore as I caused a minor accident a few years ago because of this.

Lastly, I keep both hands on the wheel during traffic. This help me concentrate on the road and makes me forget about my phone.

And I like the inside of my car. It really is a nice place to sit. So don’t need to look at my phone every 5 min to stop me from looking at the inside of the car.

Have it now for the first time in our new car, awesome app.

Something that always grind my bones is how many of the people driving with their phones in their hands are driving top of the range modern cars - seriously people, bluetooth has been around for more than 10 years now!

mostly my phone is in the back of my car.  Thanks to bluetooth I can make and receive calls.  Messages can wait.

Thanks to the speed-dial options on the radio it is litterally a single button press to call the office or home ...

Riding a bicycle on the most dangerous roads in the world where it is common for drivers to do dangerous things like texting while driving, Do you do it? Why?

Yes.

1. It is legal to ride a bicycle there. (texting is NOT )

2. I have no other choice ( Texting is a choice )

3. We could argue that our roads are not the MOST dangerous.....

FWIW, here is my 6-month history on the Discovery Insure dashboard. Proof that I don't use my phone (except for taking/making phone calls through the bluetooth system).

phone's accelerometer picks up slight movements different to the direction in which you're travelling, or if you're a discovery insure client and have the cartrack system, they compare the 2 accelerometer outputs to determine if the phone has been "handled"

And if you are "using" your phone while driving then they could perhaps deny a claim?

Hope so :-)
