Riding is more than just racing.

If course he can ride, but saying he must hang up his bike because he can't race without electrical assistance is being very, very narrow-minded.

discriminatory in a negative manner even....

I am not saying he cannot ride his motorised vehicle. I am just saying that should he should not expect or demand that organisers of human powered bicycle races change the nature of their events so he can "race"

I am open minded so let us have a discussion about the practicalities.

As you are motivating for changing the rules, put together some rules for e-bikes in races and let's debate.

Well isn't that the exact same argument that was posed, to great outrage, in the Spur MTB Schools League Homeschooling thread fracas?

Its not a sanctioned event so its not a race

Hell, if I had known that I would have put race into quotation marks.

On second thought, it appears that I did.

Yes, and none of them would ride the wrong bike in a race. Your point?

that's just foolish.... you'll never make it on a single charge. also, you have plenty of time to recover for next year's race

also also, that's foolish

I plan on setting the motor to Stepelec so I only have to push half as hard every strude. That way my achilles will be OK, the battery will last and it isn't cheating because it's Stepelec.

/comic sans of course/

You've made the assumption that you are clearly right and everyone agrees with you.

It's got nothing to do with me being right or wrong...

Go and read the original ebike thread and you'll see that the majority of people think that way.

Yup - difference is that all the kids there were riding bicycles.

See if you get the same response if you ask the schools league to allow kids on ebikes to compete.

Okee dokee, so "most" people agree on the issue. Page 6 and counting would tell the different story that it's not as black and white as it is in your mind..

if its solved why is there still a debate

perhaps those anti e bikes think its solved

or perhaps those with e bikes just get on and ride and dont worry what people think so dont post here

I don’t believe that there are very many people who are anti eBike. Most actually seem pro eBike. Trying to label all the people who have concerns about them joining bicycle races as “anti eBike” in an attempt to discredit their argument, is about as lazy as pitching at a bicycle race with a eBike.

E-bikes are superb for getting people off the couch, out of their cars and allowing opportunities for sharing recreational time in ways that are now possible.

For racing with others that bleed from the ears and grind their way through personal and athletic challenges - no.

In a separate event / category - yes.

Have I missed it somewhere? What’s the official reason that K2C refuses e-bikes?

uhmm OP asked a question about whether he could ride his e bike

someone replied to say rules on the site said no

that was last post from OP

question asked and answered

never saw him demanding never saw him arguing

seems people saw this as another opportunity to vent their views

but imho he is accepting of the reply
