Wow, It seems the organizers are desperate for money!!

I am seeded in 1E("C" on PPA), I literally just received an E-Mail saying I "qualify for a 2nd lap based on my index"??!! I have yet to do a Sub3 "Argus", Starting at 6:35 I would have to do 3hrs Max and the

Have 25min to make it to the start by 10am for the last group, with no break and no time to rest a little or recover atleast somewhat, And If im going to ride a Sub3, im going to need to recover for a bit for sure!!

Can't help but think the organizers are now desperately trying to get money, especially seeing that the entries weren't even sold out!

Nothing New

I am sure this has been discussed before / last year.

But here the question if the 2nd lap was half price, would more people who qualify, consider doing it twice? Or for most does it have nothing to do with money.

Those who do it fast enough to qualify for a 2nd lap no doubt don't stop for drinks along the way the 1st time. Road closure has been paid for / sponsored for the allocated time regardless of how many laps one does.

Back in the Day...

I finished Three CTCT Starts, that is (Ride a Lap and Finish, Ride a Second Lap and Finish, Ride a Third lap and Finish)

All together including refueling and getting back to Start Chutes in 12Hours flat,340km.

Whilst some Riders were still trying to finish a mere 109km.

It is all in the Training!

So they kept the M3 closed for 9 hours for you. Lol

If it was half price then yes I would consider it... Would be nice to stop at the water points, massage tents etc(in no particular order) and help push a few strugglers doing their 1st ever rides up Chappies and Suikerbossie etc, but for R540 it's not gonna happen from my side, plus it's a massive gamble because if I have a mechanical or puncture etc in the 1st lap, I'm never making the 2nd lap in time. I understand the money goes to a good cause, But I cannot afford a R540 "donation"..

Hello Zub

I was back @ the Third Finnish at 14h15.

Super Sport did a Recording with all the Media.

One of my friends at the time made me copy from the Tv.

Cape Argus printed a Before and After write up on my accomplishments.

Cycle Tour Trust were aware of my request and my intentions.

Could always do the one and only lap for fun and stop at waterpoints and push me

I spoke too soon. I see that the wind numbers are up again... But it shows that we actually don't really know yet what is going to happen.

There should be no extra charge for the 2nd lap. End of story. Not interested a 2nd lap till they drop the 2nd entry fee

94.7 offered me my Second entry free, last year.

I have always entered and paid for Two entries, two race packs. One listed with my name and details. The Second reflecting my Charity, still with my name.

For some it may be nothing, but for others it's quite a bit.. I myself never entered the race due to finances and then sold a few old bike things and had the money to enter. I would LOVE to give money to Charity, I dont say it should be free, But they could say "do a 2nd lap so long as you make some kind of contribution towards any charity"..

I would love to be able to go out a 2nd time and help 1st timers up Chappies or Suikers who need a hand and help the people struggling to beat the cut off, But we'll see...

Yes, I would like a pitstop at the car for some snacks. So 2. 45 would be more realistic

Pitstop at Edinburgh drive rather for lap 2 if you're tight with time

Sounds like a service delivery protest. Best you go burn some crap outside PPA offices soon if you want results
