Chocolate Steri-Stumpie with a scoop of whey protein at end of day. Some Glutamine will help too. Take some Athletic ZMA before bed to help with recovery and muscle aches, let's you sleep better as well. Tried the Steri-Stumpie Lite the other day with less sugar and its close to the original.

I have noticed no drop in performance since I stopped using supplements. My recovery is also still the same.

I am starting to see these things as snake oil, and pay little heed to the marketing blurb.

Ja, I only take a Vita Blitz for a ride if I'm feeling fatigued. I tried it once on the Wattbike at gym, and my left calf muscle almost said cheers, but, so far my best result on the Wattbike was when I didn't take a Vita Blitz.

I have never used supplements. I am by no means a top end racer, but I do cover big miles every week. On foot, bike and paddling.

Real food, water, a balanced diet and being able to listen to your body.

A life style trumps training for longevity and sustainability every single day of the week.

(As a disclaimer I am off to AR World Champs in 2 months time so I'm not a total palooka... just half a palooka)

I won`t touch USN and have experimented with Evox which is Okay, Biogen (Meh), etc. But the one that works and has the best contents is MuscleTech-Nitrotech Whey Gold. I dont find that it creates that buzz or surpresses anything it just works and have used it for IM training. Its pricey but I only use it for longer than 2 hour sessions or after when I feel i need it.   https://www.muscletech.com/za/products/performance-series/nitro-tech-100-whey-gold/

Eat a proper breakfast (toast, eggs, etc..) and drink more water throughout your day. Fuel your day, not your recovery.

Words of wisdom I think?

I tried Evox when I wanted to bulk up a few years ago, it worked okay.

Why is everyone recommending Steri-Stumpie?!

A single 350ml serving gives you a lovely 31g of sugar (carbs), 4,4g of saturated fat, 33mg of cholesterol,  and 171mg of sodium. All with some lovely artificial colourants, flavourants and stabilizers.

Sleep

Switch off when you get home and rest/chill

More sleep

Add some intervals in your training to boost your fitness (do not try when fatigued)

Hi gents

I work on construction and actually busy with the new building in sandton the leonardo.i walk bout 80 floors a day.my legs are so f$$k every day and when i try to cycle on weekend i battle, they are pap.any really good recovery drink or something i can eat to help recover alot faster?

Purchase a roller for your legs. I use this every time i get the chance. Legs feel fresh for the next ride believe it nor not! Maybe try rolling your legs at the gym before purchasing if you unsure. This will work far quicker than recover drinks, which should only be used within 30min of a strenuous workout.

What about a couple of spoons of whey powder mixed with Milo in milk at lunchtime and in the evening after work. Why pay for expensive recovery drinks when it's 90% whey powder anyway

Exactly

Bought a box of this:

To see how it fares as a protein shake, even though the Mrs and I eat protein (with veg) every night.

whey powder doesn't';t help you if you eating enough already. Sounds to me like OP may want to consider an eating plan. If feeling low on energy could be that Protein/carbs/fats balance is out

Still, everyone is looking for some magical silver bullet you can just throw down your gullet and you'll be good.

OP, if you're super active at work and also exercise after work, just eat whole foods with a good amount of carbs, rest your pins when you have a chance at work and rest sufficiently at night.

Edit: No need to scoff down the waste product of curdling bovine breast milk. #fokkengross

Of course not.. But it does help with post activity recovery. Good breakfast and good lunch are also critical
