Level 1 from 20/09, with a limit of 500 people for outdoor events. I can’t see government dropping level 1 before the end of the year.

Wonder what this event will do if level is still in play.

I have the endurance...after a good winter

Now need to drop 3kg and start with the intervals if the event goes ahead...

They need to make the call soon!!!  In the mean time I'll have another cookie...

Any update if the race is still on?

Very quiet on Social Media, I think they are hoping for the best.

Hectic Promotions are the team behind this event now.

They hosted the Fat Sheep event near Bapsfontein, all went well.

They are hosting Cycle4Cansa at Sun City over the weekend, which will give us another indication of events going forward.

We might just be lucky enough to have some sort of event, albeit allot of the normal hoopla at the start and finish will be reduced.

Well, same organizers just ran Race to the Sun last weekend, didn't they?

not the same organiser - Advendurance organize the Race to the Sun.

Hectic Promotions organize the Lost City road/MTB race, the Tshwane race and a few others.

Cycle4CANSA MTB successfully took place yesterday, road event taking place today.

Might have been significantly easier to get approval for the race there than it will be to get road closures going through the Capital.

Ah. Thanks for that. Apologies.

Cycle4Cansa at Sun City successfully hosted yesterday, 556 total finishers.

Batches were all the way from Elites to CL.

Would be interesting whether Tshwane Classic can take place with 500 odd participants(Covid restricted). Maybe with a route change that requires less interchanges it may be financially feasible. Will be tricky though to get to Tom Jenkins with minimal road closures.

just entered. Havent felt nervous about entering a race in a long time. Might be because I've never done this one or because it will test my post lockdown fitness.

Going to be interesting to say the least.

Everybody is pumped up on indoor training, but not so much on the bunch riding skillz

Limited number of riders will be allowed ...  1st come 1st serve basis ...

its not very clear.

So if you've entered, will it still be first come first serve on the day ?

So if they allowing 500 people, 600 have entered, you rock up on the day as rider 501 they send you home ?

Good question.

I'm pretty sure they won't leave it until the actual race day, you should know whether you will be able to ride before number collection starts. Not great for out-of-towners that need to arrange transport and accomodation, but in the current climate it is what it is....

Most fair process would be to go on when the entry was purchased and allow the first "500" or how many that took the gamble, and allow them to ride. You snooze, you lose...

I think a lottery system will be unfair towards those that put their faith in the race early-on.
