Until something new comes along? With little to no proven facts?

Eating less meat generally reduces carbon emissions.

Eating less meat is generally better for animals.

These are things that other diets dont take into consideration.

So again, purely from a dietary perspective it might not last, BUT as we become more aware of our moral and carbon foot prints, that might encourage it.

How much would not having kids reduce "your" carbon emissions ?

i.e.

would someone that chooses to eat meat and not have kids , have A drastically smaller carbon footprint than A vegan( or 2 vegans for the sake of semantics) that has 2/3 children ?

I want to say definitely but that's why I'm asking

...overpopulation is way bigger than nearly any issue we face

You're right on aggregate (i.e. inasmuch as if you buy less meat that there isn't someone else buying more..), and the simple logic is what makes it such fertile ground for marketing.

Meat is an easier target, and with more up-sell commercial opportunity in replacement products than for example flying or driving, or having kids (all CO2 reducing).

The other diets last as long as the books are still selling. I suspect that the current push will last as long as you can sell high sodium pea-burgers at a premium to beef. (disclaimer - I dislike such highly modified food. give it to me the way it was on the plant rather, also that burger has airmiles).

Note the dissonance here though - pushing expensive, long-distance meat-replacement veggies isn't going to solve anything..

I would imagine the impact of extra people would be an order of magnitude bigger than changing your diet. Consider the impact of electricity, housing (building), driving, clothing, etc.

So, vegans cannot propagate vegetatively?  :whistling:  Wow!

This is the Veganism thread and should only refer to the advantages of Veganism. By no means are you allowed to deviate off of the subject. The planes and cars are there already there so they simply cannot be taken into account. However humans farming cars or sheep or my absolute favorite little piggies is an absolute NO NO. As you were!

The bigger question is why are you on this thread? You are clearly not interested in anything contrary to your own view.

You're not discussing anything - you're only objecting, whatiffing and generally ridiculing.

Tired of veganism being thrown down my throat! What is anyone doing on this thread? Just trying to convey their theory or belief. Is this the first time ridiculing has happened on the hub? If so I apologize profusely to all the plants.

Wait. What? You're tired of veganism being thrown down your throat so you purposely go to a thread about veganism to get more veganism thrown down your throat? Sounds more masochistic than therapeutic.

Either way - if that floats your boat have at it. Saves me some time replying to your messages/question if you aren't interested in the answers.

Would you consider eating a little less meat if you knew that it was better for you and the world. Not go full vegan, but maybe make little changes here and there?

I really don't eat much meat at all. Just amused at how some people think their way of life is so much better than people who do not follow their exact ways. People have a way of turning their lifestyle into a cult and be off with those who don't agree with it. My opinion!

Did the church hurt you, Bru, or what’s happening with the feverish posts ????

Watched the game changers, must say it’s a little disappointing.

The introduction of arguments few people are making. Eg: “Our energy comes from meat” then when you go on to disprove this claim that few people make, you are somehow right.

“Planted based protein is inferior to meat based protein” again a claim that few people make these days.

The look at your plasma from day 1 and look at your plasma from day 2....

Then the dude doing his rope flicks and went from 8mins pb to 61mins pb, only because of a diet change? Come let’s get real.

Comparing human digestive track to that of a lions... again who says we are carnivores.

The MO seemed to be one of an infomercial.

But besides that, it’s probably a good movie to raise awareness and get more people to eat less meat which is a good thing.

I gave some thought as to the purpose of this movie. I came to the conclusion this was made for mass consumption specifically, but not exclusively for the American market. The use of NFL players and the MMA main protaganist lends itself nicely to the 'merican masculine ideal. So instead of the some “pure, enlightened and woke capital-city greenies”

shoving a vegan lifestyle down your throat. You have some likable, relatable characters who you can go on this journey with.

It's light on science no doubt. But like you said its main objective was to promote plant based diets. I think it achieved this by establishing:

1) A plant based diet is good for you

2) Eating vegetables doesn't make you less of a man (I think there is still a stigma attached to vegetarianism/veganism that it's a unmanly(whatever that is) thing to do.)

Hence the strongest guy in the world piece, the manhood section and the NFL players adopting plant based.

3) Eating Vegetables are good for the planet

I think it's achieved its goals quite nicely. A lot of guys in the office are talking about it and considering trying it for a couple days, so I think its mission accomplished.

Bringing the church into a discussion on beliefs... That's called canon, Dale.

Hey guys. I have an enlarged boob. Only on the one side. I went to the house docter and she said it was gynecomastia. I then went to a specialist doctor and he said that it's cosmetic and that the medical aid won't pay to have it removed. He also said I have to wait till I'm 18 it might or might not go away. Its defenitely not going away, 70grams of fat doesn't just disappear.

It bothers me a bit. So do you guys know if such a thing is really cosmetic or not?
