Glorious day in Gauteng after what felt like weeks of rain. Hoped to make full use of the better weather but alas! late nights, friend get-togethers, pantomimes, year end lunches, sprained ankles and all kinds of other things taking its toll on the time available. But even though short, it was great to be outside and alive this morning.

I am glad this rain has finally stopped, I know we need it but that was a bit excessive. Why can't it just rain from like 22h00 till like 02h00 every night for a month. That way we can still ride and mow the lawn and my kids don't get seriously frustrated from being stuck inside all day for a week. Their wellingtons got good use this week. We also made use of just about all their winter clothing as they insisted on going out to play in the rain. It is my xmas lunch today so no ride but tomorrow I will be back on the bike.

LOL. Years gone by we used to get money towards it, now we lucky if we even get time off to go. We fortunate enough to be given 3 hours off today(my manager has allowed each crew under him to go 3 hours early at different times) and not even all of my crew are going(they just going home or whatever but not joining us). I have an issue with that but its easier to just keep my mouth shut and go enjoy a lunch with the rest of my crew.

One of our commuters works for the City of Cape Town and their dept pay to have their own "end of year lunch" ... no tax monies going towards them (unfortunately I think)

where i am now they have not had a year end function in 5 years, this year was the first in 5 years.

Being in retail meant we had to wait until closing time before joining in.

I couldnt be bothered with YE functions, it used to bother me not having them, but now I'd much rather spend the time away from work.

We are 4 people in the office, and our YE function is on Friday .... I am looking forward to it as we can fortunately still laugh together at the end of the year and the location we are going to has some good food and excellent beers :)

Well done Cat-i !!!

we're in uncharted territory now  :nuke:  :nuke:

9184km on a 26er MTB !!! ...  and we're not done yet !! :D

Incredible achievement, well done Cat-i!!

You shouldn't have underestimated yourself  ;)

Thank you

Managed to do a whole lot more kms than last year.

There was a few moving goalposts - moved mostly by myself, I might add. First we had to get in resonable condition for JoBerg2C. When we were back, the aim was to try commute 200km per week for as long as we could - to maintain the J2C fitness gained with so much pain. Then the UweKoetter RiseTheChallenge came along, and because my commute is already very hilly, I found myself top half of that list before too long.

The year is not over yet, however! Will have to wait and see if all those early winter mornings was enough.

I realised that this is the first year I never rode the road bike on the commute. Only rode it twice in 2019, once on the Argus and once on the One Tonner. MTB every other day.

Some pics from the usual ride home.

I won't bother posting pics of my ride home. Not much beats your scenery. Bateleur1 also has/had some good views.
