I have 2 videos and a voice note about the above crash. Scary stuff. The one video is of a low level flyby and it was VERY low. The second video is of the crash and everything burning. The voice note is someone saying the guy had an argument with his wife(at a baby shower at the club house) and then he hit her. He then got told to leave(not in such nice language). So he left(he took the plane without permission) and decided to try take everyone out.

I have sent the videos and voice note to Jase. Bud, if you get a chance, can you upload them here for me please?

EDIT: The videos I have are the same as the ones in the link Kranswurm posted.

I am only guessing here, but I am wondering if he found out he was not the dad?

I am trying to wrap my head around why a man would suddenly assault his wife, storm off and steal a plane, and try kill her with it?

Was it their baby shower? I think it was the voice note I heard, the guy said they were attending a baby shower. I took it as it was someone else's shower. But you raise a good point as I am sure he would be very cross if he found that out. It doesn't warrant trying to kill the other party with a plane though. I know it's non of our business but I would love to know what the fight was about and if they had had issues before. Can't believe it was the first fight.

Just read through the first 8 pages on this same topic in AVCOM. Similar speculation there, nothing new.

It seems his wife was only a guest at the baby shower.

Still, there was a comment made about being a bush pilot in Botswana, and this has led to many incidents of infidelity, seeing as boredom sets in rather quickly apparently while the spouse is flying all over the place.

Also, many comments about his mental state, and apparent alcoholic abuse.

For me this is all mere speculation, as the full story will likely take some time to come out.

All in all a sad end result. Rage at that level is not worth it for anyone involved.

So my youngest is moving to Cape Town, and flew out of Lanseria early this morning.

And would you believe it - Flightradar24 suffers a big outage last night and I miss tracking his entire flight.

Why would you track his flight?

Wonder if it was the same pilot that taxi'd the jumbo down the wrong taxi-way at ORT............

I am trying to figure out how a pilot ends up flying to the wrong airport, in completely the wrong direction, with no comprehension that this is wrong.

Did the pilot implicitly trust the FMC without referring to the logged flight plan? Was the pilot not aware that their destination was Dusseldorf, Germany? Did the pilot know beforehand where he was going? Did he even log the flight plan himself, or does he merely pitch up, ready the cockpit from cold and dark and take off, or what the heck?

I can't even begin to think what this has ended up costing BA. Burnt fuel, landing taxes, flight delays, crew roster overtime, aircraft availability...

The mind boggles.
