Tried to search for the previous time this was discussed but gave up after half an hour of trying!

My 820 upgraded to v11 yesterday and today I received Whatsapp notifications on my device, useful for me and others who may need to know when their family or friends have a problem or need you urgently. For the rest of the luddites as you were [emoji6]

is there an app to download on Connect or just the update/

Only the update then a setting on the device under notifications to allow 'social' or something like that

Got it working. Had to activate on Garmin in Settings - Phone - Smart Notifications - Social Media.

For the 1030....

Update to Software V7.00

make sure phone and Edge are connected (hence both powered on)

Menu ->Connected features -> Phone -> Smart Notifications -> Social Media to "on"

There is an option for "other" as well but I don't want feed from every social media app coming through

I wish they would activate that on the 520!

Personally not thrilled by the idea of being notified of every bloody whatsapp while riding. Could be quite distracting when some groups get busy! I assume its inevitable that the 520 will get that functionality as well. I hope you can add some filters!

Is this to notify you of messages, or an alternative Livetrack?

Personally if someone wants to get hold of me, call my phone. Emergency callers (wife) are instructed to phone and let it ring 3 times, hang up and call again, ring 3 times an hang up. I know its then important and will answer or call back as my phone sits in my pocket. Other callers i usually ignore.

I disabled the messaging function on my Garmin for this exact reason.

The notification shows the number thats phoning making it easy to know when its important or not. I also tend not to hear my phone ringing half the time while cycling and my wife's default assumption when I don't answer is that I'm laying dead in a ditch.

Ah the good old days when I arrive home from a long cycle, take out my phone and see 10 MC's and know all hell will break loose when I enter the house...
