BaGearA Posted March 10, 2019 Share Absolute black Most oval have tiny variations in the angles and that's why some people prefer one brand that's absolute black for me Rapide kalbo and csixx have budget friendly options Since you have an x1 crank you can get direct mount 3mm if you have boost spacing 12x1486mm if you have standard spacing12x142 ^regarding offset
Eddy Gordo Posted March 10, 2019 Share The csixx oval ring can also be shifted for diff angles. Dlite
Me rida my bicycle Posted March 10, 2019 Share Wolf tooth also a good option running 1 of their ovals. Have used absolute black, Hope and csixx. I think csixx, absolute black, Hope, wolf tooth all on par it's just which you like more in terms of looks.
RobertWhitehead Posted March 11, 2019 Share Lyne products are really good - I have a 32T & a 34T oval and they work really well
NotSoBigBen Posted March 11, 2019 Share Unless you're specific about one of the 'fancier' ones have a look at the Rapide ovals ... Well priced, better service than most and 'work' as well as any of the others www.rapide.co.za Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk arendoog, Jako De Wet and Goodbadugly
Eddy Gordo Posted March 11, 2019 Share While the rapide and lyne ovals are great options their oval angle cannot be changed as with the more expensive ones. This helps with better power delivery and possibly knee pain.
River Rat Posted March 11, 2019 Share Why?Good question, I don't believe that it suits all riding styles. If you are "clunker" like me, where you tend to push hard on the down stroke and don't possess a smooth riding cadence where you have an even amount of pedal pressure through most of the pedal stroke, then the oval might work for you. But if you do have a smooth stroke then you might find that the oval negates this. The trick is to try it out without breaking the bank and I concur that the Rapide is a great option, but becareful the oval will feel strange for the first couple of revolutions and then you get used to it. Don't be fooled the real test is comparing results over familiar terrain when you are reaching fatique. Jako De Wet and porqui
Eddy Gordo Posted March 11, 2019 Share Not sure how important this would be to some.... You can do similar with most oval rings

arendoog Posted March 11, 2019 Share I am riding Epic with a Rapide 32 oval .So far so good .I do find technical climbing and switchbacks are easier to keep momentum and balance .In two weeks time i will know .I am taking a round 32 just in case Jako De Wet, Eddy Gordo and Pieterlab1
Jako De Wet Posted March 11, 2019 Share I switched to a Rapide Oval about 5 weeks ago. I must say, it "feels" as if my power delivery over technical terrain has improved [read become smoother] and my climbing up the beasts have improved as well. Might all be in the head as some might say, but I love it Eddy Gordo

Sepia Posted March 11, 2019 Share Noob question and maybe a stupid one at that.... Would it be possible to fit an oval big ring onto a 3 x 9sp SLX crank?I am currently using a 48t and was wondering if there would be any benefits of changing this on a gravel bike? Are there any available locally?
