Am getting a lot of "Is this still available", I reply "yes, contact me on (my phone number) if you want to see it" .....then no further response...... else it seems people think you are willing to sell something for nothing with really really low ball offers!!

Bikehub Classifieds are still fairly behaved. Try to list something on Facebook Marketplace...

Example: Item listed for R4000

1st message: "I have R1000" .....

There is no "hello" ..."tell me more" ...nothing, just low-ball offer straight off the bat.

And there are plenty of these. They must be getting some sales otherwise why approach deals like that? Come to think of it, it must be Swap-Shops who know they will sell these items eventually...

I have stopped responding to these types of comms, it isn't a serious buyer.

I get this bs every so often: a guy will pm me in response to an ad, so the guy(in this instance a member since 2011 so not a noob) has seen my ad which has my cell number in it but no dude is too lazy/entitled to whatsapp me himself or use pm's so I get the following:

Hi

Is the chest mount still available?

And i see you have a chain cleaner also is that also available?

Pls msg

076*******

M*****

Thanks

Ok fine I go through the schlep of adding his number to my contacts list and send him a whatsapp, wtf but the very first reply is :

"Hi. Could you please wassup me some photos of them pls?"

I went to some trouble to put some very decent looking pics in the ads which this guy must have seen but now wants his own set of custom pics, what the hell. Fair enough if he replies and says he'd like to see a close up of the part to check the wear etc, that's understandable or that his work blocked the images etc.

So naturally I ask if he has seen the pics in the ads?

Idiot reads the reply, no reply back.

I leave it for a while, then message him And? Still no reply.

Some people, no idea what pluck they are on

Hey Skylark

I still use the PM as my 1st point of contact. I know you will get an email saying 'Jewnacca has bla bla bla'..

Some people have jobs where their phone is a no no and others simply don't want to be disturbed with private calls during work hours.

It's a difficult one because no 2 people are the same.

If the add says 'no PM's, whattsapp me' then cool. But otherwise I prefer to 1st introduce myself and let the seller get back to me when he/she can.

Any way, these low ballers eh?

I have been on another website that also offers a classified section.  You may only buy or sell when you have more than 50 posts.  It is easy to check if the person post useful info or bullsh&t.

Don't forget to include OLX and Gumtree. Sometimes i just respond with counter offers near there's just to humour them. They say " i have 1000" and then i respond with " you can have it for 1047"

"is this still available"  :cursing:  :cursing:  :cursing:

I get millions of these.  I sell braai wood on Facebook and people still ask what the condition of the product is.

The condition is as follows:  It's all dried out, broken, chopped up into small pieces.  Not suitable for building purposes.

There won't be a difference in the new classifieds. It's the same site. Things might just move around slightly to fit on different screen sizes. What you can do on desktop you will be able to do on mobile.

Hey Nick, around when can we expect the new site to launch?

Hey Nick, around when can we expect the new site to launch?

We're working pretty frantically to get a public testing phase. Busy with this week's review meeting.

Very soon we'll be asking for testers, if you're interested.

Maybe in a couple months.

I must say your response was rather aggressive towards someone who had made an honest mistake.

If that's aggressive, then you really don't want to see me peeved.

Aggressive, not really. Annoyed and entertained most definitely. So, honest mistake would go something like this:

Ad:

Wanted: Bikerack.

Offended/confused buyer guy: How'd you know I wanted one?! Sure do. (thinking to himself) Also the correct phrasing would have been: "Do you want a bikerack?", but that's OK, I won't point out the obvious here.

Ad details:

Looking for one or two bikeracks to go on my roofrack.

Needs to be in good condition.

Offended/confused buyer guy:

This must be one of those question ads like Verimark does;  "looking for one or two bikeracks to go on your roofrack?" "Needs to be in good condition?"

Offended/confused buyer guy:

Sure do and yes please! (thinking to himself) This guy is not good at writing ads, I can see why he missed inserting price. And I have to ask him for an actual photo of the items, stock images is just not representative of actual condition...

Listen; I am just having fun with this now. But surely that mistake is made because the guy did not spend more than 10secs to look at the ad.

These are pre written messages you can just click on and it sends to the seller. It irritates the hell out of me [emoji1787][emoji1787]
