2 of the companies I have worked for have been the subject of those Deloitte investigations. They are worth nothing.

Indeed. cost a bucket load of money, and nothing changed.

I sometimes get the idea that these things are done as a pass the buck exercise when management cannot get themselves to make difficult decisions.

As one of those people brought in to audit in my distant past, I can tell you that is the case more often than not. But things have probably changed since 195... Er... 1990-something

Deloitte audited Tongaat Hulett and Steinhoff. They have no credibility left.

and they back this guy too!

for me its been a case of , employees tell the company whats wrong.

Company does not believe them.

Company pays auditors lots of money, auditors tell company same thing employees told them.

Company decides to make as if they're going to do something about it, makes empty promises to employees and then its business as usual again.

My companies exact modus operandi. Over and over again. They don't like what the first auditor told them. They will continue until they find an auditor with an answer they like, that auditor will be a family member/friend of a big boss with their whole hand in the pie.

well one of the companies I worked for that had the "audit" done was the company that manages/controls the grounds, buildings etc. where you are based.

same same but different.

funny enough the other company was also a parastatal and they managed the buildings at the railways stations (before they were swallowed by the current company)

Don’t conflate setting up a work cool work environment with that of licking somebody’s nuts. They are not the same thing. Only our old school ‘egos’ confuse those two.

You are losing sight of the whole point. From your posts I assume you are in tech?

In the tech world the best talent makes the company the most money. It’s more complicated than that (effectivity vs productivity etc), but that’s what it boils down too.

If a flip flop wearing hot Dev gets better shareholder returns than an average “8-5 Ja baas” type dude, guess who is more valuable to the organization?

Yes, and we get long term employment bonuses also now. Just signed up for a 10 year bonus the other day. After 10 years I will get some nice moolah. That and the fact that the boss looks after me on more ways than just financially. He has already committed to paying for one stage race for me per year. Now if only I can get my own arse in gear in get proper fit for one.
