DJTerblanche Posted October 16, 2019 Share But the winning time is 3h53. So the winners will get a seeding index of 6.If you did 4h41 you will should a seeding of just below 15 and with the new seeding indexes be in A group. So 92/808 riders will be/stay in A. 54 of them started in A, 13 in B, 11 in C and 14 in D (savages fault!) I think 92 is around about right, were there 70 riders in A at the start. If you remove us pulling from D and those that hung on from the start and then those we pulled once we caught C, you would probably only have had 70 people getting an A seeding. That would have equaled the start group size. So the formula works. They could have adjusted winners time so that 4:34 would have earned an A seeding, then only 60 would have gotten the A. Glad we dont have to do the seeding! Skubarra

KingZA Posted October 16, 2019 Share D = 25.00 - 29.00 Changing winners times is bizarre if you ask me. I think they should have left the riders index as it was and then just keep the group breakpoints dynamic to constantly balance all the groups. That way top X percent are A, next X percent are B etc etc billygoat0523
billygoat0523 Posted October 16, 2019 Share so far I have: A 0-15B 15-20C 20-25D 25-29E 29-34 Any how, I probably belong in F somewhere, so E will do fine for me. I wonder why they decided to change the limits of the groups instead of just reverting to the old winning times and betas of the other races. Breezer Posted October 16, 2019 Share I did a 5.06 in the one tonner and my seeding is 22.something. I still have a b seeding, although my sportiff race they used have a 15 penalty. Now this is where the problem lies. I had a seeding index between 5 and one when I was still riding seriously. Now 1 and a half years later I still have a high seeding. I think that when a race is older than 6 months they must not use it for seeding. Then the riders would be much more equal in the seeding group. Rouxenator Posted October 16, 2019 Share Pffft. For me it was harder than last years beta of 2.0 and in the light of the recent K2C beta I call BS.

DieselnDust Posted October 17, 2019 Share The beta for one Tonner is about right, it's 40% harder than the cycle tour. Pure Savage
Skubarra Posted October 17, 2019 Share Pffft. For me it was harder than last years beta of 2.0 and in the light of the recent K2C beta I call BS. Weather conditions were far better than last year, it was cooler & we had a tailwind for the second half. Also I suspect weather plays a far smaller role in the beta than we imagine it should - example is the 2019 CTCT which now have a beta of 1 despite the slower than usual finishing times for everyone (but the pros) Rouxenator

Glad we dont have to do the seeding! Seems like the new system worked for the One Tonner at least, not to rehash old moans but my main gripe with the previous setup that too often I finished at the sharp end of my group only to end up with a seeding index that would actually drop me down a group. Hopefully the new setup can fix this without making it too easy to jump up the seedings. Pure Savage

Unless you get 10 people falling back it’s really hard to make a dent. The shorter flatter races make it even harder to improve seeding DieselnDust

Not sure what best method is to get everyone match properly .. I would think going back to average of best 2/3 events would be best representation of true "fit" in a group for multiple types of events (flat/hilly/long/short etc). Agree 100% Even the best seeding systems will have some "random variations" on a single event, using the average of a few events will remove this. Rlerm Posted October 17, 2019 Share I’m lost in this seeding stuff... I did a 6:53 so what will my seeding end up being since it’s not updated on racetec as of yet....
