Not sure if this has been discussed before.

Who else has made use of this service, to register online, pay online to your Bank, and then go into the branch to do electronic application?

Is it an easy process, and how long did the applications take? I had a look at the online entry form, and it does look straight forward, question I have is, can we do do both on one application, or does it need to be done separately?

I need to renew my expired passport, and do application for the wife for her first passport.

I see you are in CT. This is important.

My stepdaughter did it with her ID and it was pretty painless. The last time I checked if you are in WC you can only do it at Standard Bank in Canal Walk.

I'm with nedbank so I could only pay online and do the form online. I still had to go to home affiars to do the pics and the biometrics. Home affairs is a horrible disgusting FUP of a place and to be avoided at all costs if possible.

Luckily I'm with Standard Bank, and saw it is at Canal Walk branch only.

Will do the application tonite, when I have my expired passport at hand, just in case they need the old number.

Lucky fish. Have the passport delivered back to the Std Branch. My stepdaughter made the mistake of having it delivered to Home Affairs. The collection was a 2 hour exercise on it's own.

So as far as I know these offices are Home Affairs Offices in banks. They are not actually affiliated with the banks in any way - ie they won't deliver to your bank. It's not a service your bank offers you either.

I did my passport at FNB Merchant Place, and nobody asked anything about whether I banked with FNB or not. I was in and out within 15 mins (the free parking limit) for the photos/biometrics appointment and again for the collection. Wish I did it when applying for my daughter's passport - that was 3 hours at Randburg and the systems went offline due to Telkom outage and then 4 hours at Sandton where both parents need to be present for the application.

did mine at Canal Walk (renewal) and my kids (first passports). Very painless process.

Renewal took about 5 working days from application to collection. New passports took about 2 weeks

Wonder if I can have it delivered to my "home branch". That would save me the schlep to trundle to Canal walk for a 2nd time.

No, but there is an option of collection at Home Affairs branch I think.

I did my ID and Passport renewal & my daughters @ Nedbank Lake View Roodepoort. What a pleasure, 15 in-out, never to set foot in a Home Affairs office again, if i can help it.

I registered and did all the admin online (including payment) for my passport, so I had to go to Home Affairs in cape Town to do the biometrics and photos.

I was prepared for the worst, and was very surprised to be out of there in 45 minutes.

That included adding a new ID card to the menu (and having to pay R140.00).

SMS sent within a few days to collect Passport and then another week or so for 2nd SMS to collect ID at Wynberg branch.

I am hoping that process isn't too traumatic...

Did this when were were in SA in April. A-MAAAA-ZING. Good thing is, you get to make an appointment. Better thing is (in our case) they keep the appointment, almost to the minute. Best thing is, you get your passport within 2 weeks, with no queues and no hassle. Almost unbelievable.

We did it at Absa Towers in Braamfontein or whatever that hell hole in downtown Joburg is called.

Wife and I have been meaning to do this. With the announcement of the 50% price increase come 1 Nov we decided to get it done NOW.

I managed to log on on friday with my details, went as far as needing to pay and then decided I actually want to see if I can load my kids and my wife under my profile, do one payment and make the booking. so I logged out.

Now I cant log in again. It just never sends the OTP.

Anyone have a similar issue or any idea how to resolve ?

My experience with government online systems is that they are done half arsed at very best. And if you deviate even slightly from their process it all falls apart and you are screwed.

@The Ouzo when you tried to add kids you probably went off the critical path and now you're in the abyss of incompetence.
