The LBS seems to be complicit in the misrepresentation and if so should also not be spared. They need to be named and given a chance to explain themselves. I would think twice about (make that stop) supporting my LBS if it comes out that they had a hand in something like this.

Super Record groupset.  And the answer is stupid expensive if brand new.

About a 1/3 of retail.

And most Campy users will probably say that the parts are just loosening up on

good set at 10000km. :D

Is everyone on purpose trying to NOT comment on this typical Friday thread ?

I thought it had played itself out... or is that optimistic?

Without the naming and shaming of seller and shop, we are all just pointing pitch forks at ghosts and standing by the pyre while the matches burn our fingertips....

Still dont see a negative rating on his profile.

I think OP is being too diplomatic. not sure why he is protecting people that pulled the wool

lol, "never crashed with the groupset"? #justsaying cause he knew okes will ask after seeing it

Groupset crashed on it's own maybe.? :D

There's a few sad looking images there suggesting some caution required.

Voetstoets and legallity doesn't negate a dick move.

These sorts of burnings are because someone has pulled the wool and disrespected the bikehub code of conduct.

The seller isn't legally liable, but his name should be soiled and poo poo'd for dishonesty and skulduggery.

It's a question of satisfaction more than legal action

Seller is legally liable if he misrepresented the condition of the goods.

Sorry I wasn't able to provide feedback in time for some Friday evening entertainment ... but here's the update:  I shared the link to this thread with the seller via Hub mail, then also left a message on his mobile.  I suspect the activity on this thread was instrumental in triggering comms again, to the extent that he has agreed to refund a percentage of the costs towards replacing the ErgoLevers (I have sourced pre-used in good condition on Ebay).

The reason I was reluctant to name and shame, was partially because I am an eternal optimist ... but also because I did some homework on the seller.  He appears to have good potential as a young cyclist (possibly even pro) ... and I am well aware of how difficult it is to secure sponsorship, etc.  So I'm hoping he's learned a valuable lesson (at my expense) on what is expected as honest trading with fellow cyclists.  He has exhibited remorse in the recent comms.  Unfortunately for him, seems some Hubbers have exercised their investigative tendencies and already identified the ad in question.

As for the bike shop: upon receipt of the package, I actually phoned them back, suspecting that they'd described a different groupset :-)  But I have subsequently called the owner as well, to make him aware of my disapproval and have also shared the link to this thread with him, in the hope that he responds ... he has committed to speaking to the employee that provided the (mis)information.

But I am now moving on from this experience and look forward to getting the bike build project underway (therapy in itself).
