Robbie Stewart Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 I seriously hope you Cape Town okes don't expect us Joburgers to come up with cool stuff to do when you come up for 947.Aquarium-We have a zoo and that is not too bad.Mountain-there is apparently some cable car thing by haarties that is pretty cool.Scratch patch-pick a pot hole and see what you can find.Water park-only reason I go to wild waters is to check the planes coming in to land. ...we don't

Duane_Bosch Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 Cable car at harties - costs almost as much as the table mountain one I've heard of a mythical place in France where 22 Euro gets you access to 22 ski lifts and no limit on how many rides you can take Apparently it gets cheaper if you buy a lift pass for muiltiple days. Laughably it costs 2 Euro per day if you are a walker. Oh. That also includes access to multiple swimming pools, tennis courts, swmming lakes and a skate park. Oh and an Ice Rink. But you need your own ice skates. Stingy bastards.

You and the 2 girls can happily fit. You're welcome to borrow it. There are also awesome, very accessible caves above kalk bay which you guys can explore for free with a head torch. Scratch patch in Simon's Town, Cave Golf and scratch patch I still think costs less than 25zar per person. Super tubes in Muizenberg is still going........Don't forget surf lessons in muizenberg and plenty of lekker coffee shops and restaurants along the muizenberg to kalk Bay stretch. Just don't take a car. The traffic jam is a nightmare
DJR Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 I just did a quick Airbnb search in greenpoint for places over the Argus weekend and there is loads of well priced amazing accommodation. The days of ridiculously expensive Cape Town accommodation are loooooooong gone. If I do enter the race I reckon I'm gonna book an Airbnb for my little family and we can hang out in the city for the weekend and pretend we're tourists.I live so close to the start, I do that every year. Sorry to all the peeps from far and wide.

We live on the other side of the pond (Somerset West) and did the touristy thing on Saturday for our anniversary. Even while blowing a gale Cape Town is amazing.

We take it all for granted, me thinks.A couple of years ago my youngsters moaned and groaned because we "never go anywhere dad" because I work every 2nd Christmas and New Year. So, I told them to zip it, people come from all over the world to visit Cape Town that time of year. They Googled and found Cape Town on just about every top 10 list of places to visit in the southern hemisphere. So, they organized us a "holiday from home" and it was bloody fantastic. Just like tourists. We rode the Red Bus and saw bits of Cape Town we didn't even know about, learnt things we never knew and had great fun. We climbed up Platteklip Gorge and rode the Cable Car down, visited Kirstenbosch, Boulders and Cape Point, went to the Heart Museum at Groote Schuur and a whole bunch of other stuff. We paddled Simons Town, with the penguins, Green Point with the dolphins and took the car over Chapmans Peak (usually we do it on the bike). It took about a year to get through their list and they never again complained about staying at home after that.

We take it all for granted, me thinks.My Dad recently retired and at his retirement party someone asked him so now you going to fill your passport, just a matter of where. He told them he is a firm believer that RSA has so much to offer that you don't need to go abroad to see some amazing locations. He's right, we do have some really lekker places to go and see.

Shebeen Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 okes, stop telling the vaalies it's cool to come visit again, we need them to work and crap and keep the conomy going up there. it's like they've already forgotten we ran out of water the other day! Not sure how credible the source is, but apparently learner enrollments in WC/ CT had a huge spike last week - probbaly the quickest way to measure yearly semigration.

Drive 2.5 hours to go to Pilanesberg for the day3. Drive 3 hours to Clarens for a lovely weekend in mountains4. Drive 3 hours to Dullstroom for a wonderful whisky tasting and fishing trip5. Drive 1.5 hours to Parys for some greyish water rafting
