I wouldn't have a clue what my min., max., bp, etc is.

I have nothing but the wind in my hair and a smile on my face. I don't even make strava's on my phone.

Age 35

Max HR 204

Running LTHR 186

Cycling LTHR 170

this will be important info for you. to me, it seems how you can adjust intensity in relation to LTHR will determine how 'deep' you can go. makes sense to my lizard brain at least.

then again, if I had a LTHR of 190 and put out 150W weighing 100kg at 190bpm, my max heart rate will mean very very little.

When you wake up from surgery and you're told the anaesthesiologist panicked when your HR dropped below 30... ^_^

Its always fun to play with Anaesthesists.

They make you count to ten as you are supposed to black out at six or seven.

Made it to a measured thirteen clearly spoken, my uncle told me there was a sigh of relief when i got to fourtheen and I really struuggeled and slurred. Fun being a stubborn thirteen year old keen to piss em off although you are in lots of pain.

Haven't measured in year was around 40 when fit got as low as 36.

Think I should invite some old mates to this thread one was measured on training camp at 20. Send to the specialist for a 24h follow up for several days. They officialy set him at 18 yep over 3sec between each beat got the all clear to keep on racing though.

Miguel Indurain?

Nope he was Belgian and his name is Joris he was quite good but not exceptional. His little brother was world class as a kid though but never really made it in the limelight as a pro. The latter should have stuk to track instead of road and would IMO had a pro medal potential.

Heart rate is not a performance measure. Neither low reast rate as high top rate. Its what your body can squeeze out of each extra beat power wise and how  fast you can get it back down again that matters more.

Its a bit as performance as a youth. One of our other buddies had a 22 resting hard rate and seemed destined to be the new Matthieu Van der Poel. Well before his time as he is older. Getting the perfect streak 30/30 wins as an U16 in cyclo cross. and shining on the road as well. His litlle nephew same age half his size(figure of speach) often was second and third.

The latter was seen as too tiny to fragile, The fragile one became U19 world Champion. Two year later many questionned his selection for U23 world champs guess who won? A couple of years later having turned pro he was still deemed the fragile one, He won the world cup overall ....

I am 55. I work and play in Tanzania where there are no mountains, but lot of sandy, corugated roads poluted with thorns, cattle and dung. My normal rest rate was 43, but I had a heavy bout of malaria three weeks ago. I have been battling to get my resting below 50 since then :-(
