About a week ago above Llandudno early windy morn I see a cyclist ahead of me about 0.5m in the road on a blind corner with nobody near him and a big empty yellow line, I give a brief 'toot' as I go past (far enough past not to alarm him and def not a sit on the hooter) and get flipped off and sworn at, so I wait about 300m up the road for him byside my car. I say thats really not necessary as I was just trying to warn him of the blind corner and him being in the road, I specifically state that I am not going to swear at him or hit him.

He continues to swear at me and tell me he's doing intervals at 500watts and its 45km/h gusting wind, so he needs to be in the road.

He tells me I have a miserable life and I should get effed.

I get back in my car and drive off past him and on with my life. But I was pissed for a bit.

He's around a lot training on this road and is good, but not nearly as good a he thinks he is. His atittude will get him sorted out sooner or later.

Strangely I seem to getting mellower - I must admit there is a part of me that would have seen it escalate - but I dont think violence and incitement actually solves anything.

I would also have told you to take a hike.Cheek.

Today I rode up to the Tafelberg road - sitting on liitle camping stools under the trees and out of sight of the passing cars were 5 traffic cops - doing sweet-F-all.

They spend all of December and January chillin' out there. They have their music going and generally have a great time doing f all.

When they do decide to get up and direct traffic they cause the massive traffic jams all the way up Kloof Nek Road. I live here, I see it daily.

I only once wished I could've got a number plate.

Riding in the Cradle between Avianto and Kloofzicht last Wednesday, going up the hill in the yellow line I heard a big Diesel behind me for a while. Eventually a construction truck passed me and closed up on my partner about 50m ahead where the yellow line ends.

A car was approaching from the front and the truck driver geared down and waited for the car to pass before he overtook her in the opposite lane as if she were a car.

I missed his number as I wanted to trace his employer and commend him for the respect he showed a cyclist.

After the opening line I thought this was going in the other direction.

I think there are still good people, with morals and who values another's life. Unfortunately some people feel waiting 10-30 seconds for a gap is more effort than simply shoving by and endangering another's life.

We forget these are essentially 2ton weapons we drive on the roads........

I have had that before as well and if it has been possible I make sure to give a thumbs up or a head nod and I often get the same back from the driver.

A #&@@#R@ is the chop that took just over half an hour to shower now at the communal office shower who on turn got very upset when I knocked on the door asking him to realise the are still other people waiting for the shower..... That is a d@%s....especially when he comes out saying it takes as long as it takes to get ready.... In his the piece suit with matching handkerchief in pocket.

I am glad you did not post any pics though.  Might have seen a d**k instead of a d**s.

I did. Chappies. 2018. BMW again (although I also drive one, ha). I steered away from the 1m by-law, and went straight for a reckless and negligent driving complaint. Initially got kicked out by an incompetent junior prosecutor at Wynberg Magistrate's Court due to "lack of evidence" (when I had more evidence than existed in the Henri van Breda axe murder case!)

I accept that it helps that I used to practise law, as I went all the way up the food chain at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions until I got results. 18 months later (with a healthy dose of patience and persistence), resulted in the driver serving 100 hours of community service, as well as having to go on an anger management course (to be paid for out of his own pocket! Lesson, I trust, learnt).

There is hope.

awesome.

Was it a particularly case of driving with real chances of injury, or did you just really want to follow it through?

I'd like to think that you have some advice to give here, and in cases where contact has happened this could be the swiftest way for action.

I see I forgot to add the bit where he was rude and indignant .... poor lady in front of me just shook her head, and I (growing as a person here :P) just told him I don't feel like arguing and sat back down to read the hub on my phone ... he then went away

I am lucky in that regard, 3 showers in the locker room I use and only 2 guys that shower regularly. We each have "our own" shower and then anyone else can use the 3rd one. There is another locker room in my building with 4 showers that are also seldom used.

Meanwhile some of us can't commute because there isn't even a single shower at our place of work:(

look around and make a plan ... I shower at the building behind ours .. there is a cross fit gym there who I have arranged a "shower" contract with at a reduced rate.
