Long story but have had this frame in my bike room for quite some time ... Small for me and planned to build it for my son some time but there was no rush. Was going to collect some nice bits and get it done before 94.7

Yesterday while chatting to him he challenged me to build it with just stuff out of my garage and bike room but NO stripping parts off existing bikes.

Will start tomorrow ....

I'm busy with a few different things..... I am missing bits though.

1 build is missing 2 new tires, 1 build is missing a top bearing cup, 1 build is missing headset bearings........ So I will get each to where it can get to and then hopefully as soon as lockdown is over I can pick up the pits.

The tires are already on order with cwc but I'm hoping to scrounge the bearing cup and find some bearings or a cheap headset for the others.

I also bagged a rad deal on the 'wishing well' thread so that should arrive for some modification and some shreddies too.... 20 inch disc break heaven!

I just got the buy in from Wifey for a pump track in the garden.

Won't finish it before end of lockdown, as I'll probably need to get soil from somewhere else, and I need to cut back a lot of bushes and maybe a bit of a tree, but I'll be getting into it before she reneges on the idea.

Do you remember the Savage, not the Savage from the Bikehub, the Savage from the WH group.

He persuaded his wife to let him build a pump track in his back garden ... even through her prized roses.

Long story short .... we christened the bike on a New Years Eve braai and it was lekker ... but the roses did not really do that lekker ... any hoe ... they ended up selling the house not long after and moved to Canada ... not saying this is related, just #JustSaying!

Lots of little issues still to sort before building it though :-

One tubby has a puncture so it's unpick, patch and re-sew

RD needs a service (pulley wheels)

FD threads a bit damaged so will need to make a plan

Need to make sure BB is the correct width

Chain has 2 stiff links

Need a cassette space thingy that goes on before the cassette of that makes sense.

The outers in the bike were for the newer type shifters, these have the sticky out cables to the side. May have to make a 'las' there

One bolt of the seatpost is missing ... looks like something specific but we'll see

That's all I can think of but will just do bits every day, don't want to rush it [emoji12]7c38f8cbfa3e97d1bbd1783f896ace87.jpg

So I managed to break a few things while doing some routine pool maintenance this morning.

May have been a message to keep my hands off my bikes. LOL :D

Been contemplating this as well, but with pallets.  However, I decided to pave the braai area and finished it about 2 weeks ago.
