Wheelset swaps

Quick question for the knowledgeable people here in Hub Land.

 

A friend of mine has offered to let me try out his wheelset, something he may regret in the future.

 

His are Carbon, mine alloy, but, he has GX Eagle drivetrain, whereas my bike has Shimano 12speed drivetrain, both are 12x148 hubs.

 

What are the chances the wheel would just fit in and run? Except maybe aligning the brake caliper? Would the derailleur have be adjusted as well? How much of a ball ache would it be to do the swap?

Unless you are riding something like a spez or canondale or Pyga and he is not then it should work

 

Pyga has the plus5 thing. Canondale something else also

It will work. Just align the calliper and you are good to go.

Start with saddles

Just check the chain compatibility. The 12 speed stuff can get tricky with chains.

If seen Shimano 12spd run just fine on Eagle cassette. Might need just a tiny tweak to get the shifts perfect and adjust the brake. About 10min if you have a little idea of what you are doing.
