I had my Forerunner 935 liberated from my house by a home shopper a few weeks ago.

Two questions -

1.     I have checked my Garmin Connect app but I assume if they re-format the device I won't ever pick up that it has              been connected ?

2.     I need to replace the watch but in current climate I was considering by how much more inferior in quality would a            735 be compared to the 935 ?

I must say the 935 had all the bells and whistles but I am not sure I needed so many features.

I use mine mostly for MTB and then also running and swimming and the odd triathlon.

Anyone had the 735 and found it sufficient ?

Have you considered getting something a little less, but getting a little more, like the vVvoactive 4. Has music, which is a huge winner I to me. It may not have a dedicated tri mode, but since you only do the occasional tri, this may not be an issue.

The main reason i suggest this is because it uses the latest from Garmin, so it will be sorted for longer going forward, so you will have access to more updates over time

If you not in a rush, might want to wait until September as there are rumours of new watches being launched, a Forerunner 955 and possibly a 745.

If you doing the odd triathlon then consider battery life rather than the bells and whistles the watch has.

Hi

Sorry to hear about the home shopper.

Cant say I have experience with the 735 but maybe somethings you want to look at

the 735 lacks a Barometer. This may or may not be important to you for accurate elevation gain calculations.

Also not sure how good the battery life is on the 735. The 935 has amazing battery life.

Just my 2cents, if I was to downgrade on the 935 i would consider the Garmin Instinct. Its a more rugged and outdoor friendly watch that can take abuse and my understanding should have a solid battery life

Garmin seems to be on the trend of yearly replacement/update of wearables, so yes, there is bound to be new devices.  I think the issue for the OP is more around pricing than having the latest though, but hopefully the pricing of the existing models takes a bit of a haircut when the latest item come out

I have the 735 . It’s a great watch does everything and can download apps if that’s your thing. No music player though . But I swim run and cycle and it has sufficient data and functions. Also can do other sports.

I suppose it all depends on your budget.

I upgraded from the 935 to the 945 purely for the music function, and I don't regret my decision. 955 going to come out soon with mobile cellular functionality, but I'm pretty certain it's going to be at a high cost.

I haven't heard any horror stories about the 735XT. Your money is safe with that purchase.

Don't worry about the 735 not having a barometer to measure elevation, as Garmin Connect has the elevation correction functionality available.

I've had the battery last just shy of 8.5 hours with GPS on, and some live tracking along the way (when we stopped every 80Km).

It's not bad, and does lack some functionality of the 9xx series, but the 735 is certainly capable, and at the price it currently retails for, it's definitely worth it. However, it's been around since 2016, so 4 years is old in consumer electronics.

Can ayone recomend a Garmin outlet in C Town seeing as Navworld has left this province.

Courtesey of SARS I can finally afford to replace my stolen 935 but I prefer actually going and looking what's available off the shelf as opposed to online shopping.

SportsmansWarehouse .... actually got good service from them

BUT ... they dont have stock of everything in store .... best to phone ahead if you want to see it in store ... though you are limited to the few watches in the display, as everything else remains sealed...

With my last purchase the paperwork was done instore, and the watch delivered to my house the next day

945. DCR wasn't too impressed with the 745, because the 945 offers more value. I love my 945. Bullet proof, great battery life, pretty much flawless if you ask me. Had the 935 and upgraded to the 945 just for the music.

Where did you get your 945 - online or local store ?
