The downhill suited the poorer riders... for the 30th placed qualifier to win and no one in the top10 even making it onto the podium in the downhill is not what i would call a decent race.... The rainbow jersey is unlikely to be seen on the podium for another year... ai yai yai

That's a little bit disingenuous to Reece Wilson. He's been through a fair bit of challenges in the last couple of years. This was world's.. It's about making an opportunity on the day. The Brits will have a lot more experience with this type of muddy rooty tech than most other nations and it showed. It's no surprise that the juniors was won by a young lad from Ireland too. This will be the stepping stone that reece needed and I really do hope you get to eat your words next year

And p.s...they don't start based upon qualifying .. They start based upon UCI points

Scottish!!

This whole 'British' thing at world champs needs to come to an end... There should be a Scottish flag next to the jersey!

Reese Wilson pitched up and rode at his best, he didn't cheat. So how can you say that? Yes he isn't top 10 but saying he doesn't deserve it?

Yes the track deteriorated fast after his run and the others had a hard time, but that's racing.

It was easy to see as the race was won or lost in the woods, the riders all tried to make up time in the top section to make up for the forrest, and it wasn't like they guys were 10 seconds up after the first split either, it was close all the way up until the forrest. The weather was against everyone, same as the forrest. Nobody could control the weather.

Personally I think he rode well and deserves it, like I said, he gave it his best, and won.

There are races, occasionally, where the track improves over the course of the day benefiting the higher ranked riders. Yesterday was a chance for the earlier riders, Wilson took advantage and regardless of what you or I think, the results show that he is the World Champion. Well done to him, bet he has yet to take that jersey off!

Read the post... i didnt say he cheated or didnt put out his best possible run. Also im not critising him in any way or form. Maybe this is the break a guy like him needs to move up a notch to regularly be beating guys like Bruini and Minaar and i hope i do eat my words... I would however have liked for the Top5 ranked guys to at least have been competitive vs the early starters...

Na, The best person won on the day.

agreed you luck into having speed. He may have had better conditions to cope with but that's part of the game. IN WC races the riders would look at the forecast and if it was to their advantage they would qualify slow to start their race run in the god weather window.

whether Reece Wilson will be a worthy wearer of the jerswy remains to be seen. This WC season has delivered a lot of upsets and unexpected results.

The only issue I have with the underdog winning this one is that the Brits will never let us hear the end of it. Its like DH version of 1966

The starting order wasnt dicatated by the quailfying times but rather by your UCI ranking. So no gaming the conditions in this case.

Sjoe... In 2019 at 22/23 he got better and better as the year went on and got a top 10 in Lenzerheide.

Then he ended himself at Red Bull Hardline and had to come back from nothing in a year.

I like the fact that he won. Seeing Bruni win 4 in a row would have been bad for the sport. The top 5 guys WERE competitive. Until they fell. Then they weren't.

He didn't fall, didn't dab unnecessarily and managed to ride right on the edge to be fast AND clean. The pressure was always on the late starters to have to find that same edge. Most succumbed to the pressure.

World Champs isn't about consistency or points or placing. It is about finding the balance between risk and reward.

The top 20 took risks that didn't pay off or rode too safe and slow.

I'm stoked for both world champs. An Unlikely pair but well deserved. Mads is another good example on the road last year... The conditions, his mindset and the cards he played aligned.

1 result in a win it or lose it situation. World Champs is fantastic

When Danny Hart won in Champery it was also a bit of an anomaly and look how his career has progressed.

Which reminds me. Champery 2025. #sehmahnet.
