My wife and I have experienced rear brake master cylinder (hand lever) failures. Angela's XT (8000) twice in about 3000km where the cylinder weeps and needed bleeding regularly.

As they cannot be overhauled or serviced, they have been replaced at huge expense.

My 8100 XT have not even done a 1000km, and there's sign of leakage from the same place.

As a comparison, my 2006 Anthem's XT brake set are still fully functional, and have never given a day's trouble.

Anyone else?

My master cylinders are fine, pistons not so much. Also, Aliexpress has full rebuild kits available for the master cylinders and calipers

I know a guy who has used the aliexpress titanium pistons kits many times. He swears by them for guides and shitmanos. They cost next to nothing, so they are definitely worth a try for sure.

Yes, you can service them, but why would you as a supplier of the product provide service kits if you can force the market to buy new?

it is actually quite a simple exercise to get right. One can even attempt a DIY 🤪

I used to be a motor mechanic and overhauled many tandem brake master cylinders

I used red rubber grease to assemble all DOT4 brake fluid cylinders. I wonder if its compatible with mineral oil?

I made my own pistons from ally when I had guide brakes, super simple things to make
