I am sure this stuff is great but there is no way I will spend this amount of money on gearing, and it's heavy. At least they are creating jobs for kids to mine raw materials in DRC to make all the batteries.

The most impressive bit about this clip is that the Specialized frame did not crack or explode into a million carbon fragments!

What I find interesting about this test, besides the final force required to break the der ... is the repeated, and increased force applied to the der ... one would assume this would have also weakened the material before the final breaking point test?

Anyone thinking bicycles are expensive should look at the ‘racing’ running shoes that costs thousands of ZAR (R3500+) and often don’t last beyond 500km. That’s R7/km run

I only run if the police are chasing me, and they have not had a reason to do so for some time.

So what issues did Nino Sram have with his brand new AXS the other day...May have cost them the race?

Hugh, I don't recall this ???  Egger & Baum (probably cost them the race) had a derailleur issue, not Nino .... 🤷‍♂️

That too, but Nino had an electrical issue on Groenlandberg stage - Gerald mentioned it, and so did Nino in the post stage interview

Then I completely missed that.  Wonder how much time that cost them and what was the impact on the race ...

I was under the impression, unlike last year with all the punctures, their only issues was that Andri simply couldn't keep up.

Nothing that cost them the race. He said a minor mechanical which was speculated as a derailleur issue due to it getting wet. If it was water ingress related the.man that’s likely a bad battery contact or it was wet when fitted.

considering that the race was won on new SRAM Transmission….

I know of another rider - Masters women whose entire AXS stopped working  - had to do most of the day as a SS and without  the AXS dropper. Reinforces my view that electronics on a bicycle is a dumb idea...

How many other riders have not snapped der. cables through the years leaving them to doctor a SS so that they can limp back over the finish line.
