For Info

There are often a lot of discount codes floating around the web on forums for TP membership.  Reddit often have in their forums.  So do some hunting before you look to sign up.

Also if you know any coaches on TP, they often get sent codes by TP to use to offer upgrades to Premium for their athletes and it is usually around 20% discount.

So if you are thinking of going to Trainingpeaks Membership in March 2025, if and when IV/TPV is no longer free, go looking for discount codes else ask on this thread if anyone has a code and get a discount of the annual, before upgrading to paid.

If you downloaded the new installer yesterday, and are having problems with it loading, go download the installer again - there is a fix for needing administrator privileges.

Biggest annoyance right now is that the new version (deliberately) doesn't remember your iV login details anymore, you have to enter it every time. A minor thing.... until I end up 3s too late for a race 😋
Not an issue if you switch to using your TrainingPeaks account, if you have one.

Mine hasn't updated still reflects IV - My pc tells me its all a conspiracy this whole thing of TP buying IV

For the PC version (maybe Mac too) you need to go download the new version from the TrainingPeaks site. On my Android tablet it updated directly to the new version.

George has mentioned that the old version won't be updated anymore, it will continue to work until something breaking changes with the API or new routes.

Every PC start-up runs an update, just a few seconds.

Let's see tomorrow if it still does an update at start-up

Sure, but if you run the old indieVelo installation tomorrow, it won't update to the new TrainingPeaks Virtual. They install in different folders

Another web-based application, mentioned recently, is auuki.com
Allows adding a fit file to follow online. No avatar, and no visible progress of where you are on the route. Once downloaded, it's as if you did the route.

Give ROLLA ONE a looky see also, do not go back to MyWhoosh.

It's completely free, not heavy on resources, and the routes are actual video recorded routes. I use it just to keep going on those days I cannot get out onto the road/trails.

Runners can use it also.

Looks like TrainingPeaks Virtual is now available publicly for Apple TV.

One user mentioned that direction buttons on an old remote doesn't work, but they were able to use their iPhone as a remote?

So I am still using IndieVelo, will download TPV now though since the IndieVelo server will be closed next week, but 2 things I been finding extremely frustrating on IndieVelo, on the pacer rides, the power outputs are VERY inconsistent, and the group will drop you in a couple seconds if you just like 5 watts out of range, even though there is supposed to be like a 30 watt spread in the group, not a problem I ever had on Zwift.

And 2nd. I use my watch for a HRM but for the last few weeks it just will not connect, I have tried making sure there are no other devices with Bluetooth on in the area, turning my phones Bluetooth off and keeping the trainer off while trying to connect the watch, nothing works, hopefully at least this will be resolved on the TPV app, also not something that was not ever a problem on Zwift

I agree on the pacer, its no where near as good as ZWIFT. Been doing lots of Z2 work with Olie - Very fast on the downhills and extremly slow on the uphills. Its actually a challenge to stay with him.

The pack dynamics just don't seem to work properly at all. When a nice group forms on the front it always seems to speed up and eventually drop the pacer, then the gtroup disintergrates to 1 or 2 riders because most were bots who jump in and out for the route, so i always try stay behind the pacer, but you need to keep your eye on the distance he is ahead as in different sections he suddenly speeds up and will drop you in a matter of seconds. One minute you sitting riding tempo on his wheel and the next you in a full out sprint trying to get on his wheel again.

Yes, my issue is exactly that Oli as well, every time I am trying to just do a nice Z2 ride, it lands up with me seeing the res mist because you need to try catch up, and then I REALLY struggle to slow down again and land up just pushing hard the rest of the ride
