Make sure you have a good debrief after the event. Maybe not within 24 hrs but certainly within 120hr before painted memories take over.

Also consult with each rider individually and remember, the road always tells the truth. Then you know who to invite back and who to pass along.
internally , team management sorted their shyte over G&T till 01:00 Sunday morning so by breakfast we were still friends.
one of the lesson is that highly strung race horses aren’t always a good fit when things don’t go according to plan

Wait, so flogging it out over instagram stories and comments is not the best way to debrief...

Dammit, messed that up.

People love to watch a train wreck though, our first major increase in followers in years....

Tough point this year was someone asking me at the inter schools cycling where I bought my Savage supporters shirt, obviously thinking there was no way that I was a Savage 😕

What I have learned over these three years and DC's is that words and banter affect people very differently. Some people dont notice it, some thrive on it, some laugh it off and some it cripples.

Just remember there is someone on the other side of that hub account/insta account.

I hear you but if someone is letting the banter of a little race around Swellendam cripple them then maybe the issues are deeper rooted and they need some help? I don't mean that in a hurtful way.
Let's face it, cyclists are just plain ruthless when it comes to banter, especially body or fitness shaming.

I had a friend who used to play golf with me who got so upset with the banter that it affected his game tremendously and so to his demeanor on the course. He eventually stepped away from the game because he couldn't control his emotions. He should have gone for counseling because the banter is always going to be there, in some form or the other.

For the life of me, I can't figure out what's going on in this picture - my brain just can't compute. It seems you are on the wrong side of the road.

Guys, guys... this is taken with the selfy camera on a phone. Probably.

Selfy cameras are always horizontally flipped.

Which is why the text on the signs are all reversed... 🙃 ➡️⬅️

That said, there were long sections between Robertson and Bonnievale where the group was taking up almost the entire road.

And the side-on breeze was causing everyone to move to the right side of the road, seeking shelter.

How does a group of 12 take up the whole road?

There is a setting on the camera which shows you to toggle mirror off which resolves their issue.
