Ok  - so since GCN+ plus closed and I made every human effort possible to switch to Discovery+ with billing via an UK account, I get the notification yesterday that Eurosport is pulling the plug in the UK/Ireland and will no longer be available as a streaming channel on the standard 7 pounds/month package. You can continue to watch Eurosport by upgrading to the 31 pounds/month package. WTFudge...????? But Eurosport will continue to stream as separate channels on Discovery+ under the standard package - as long as it is outside the UK/Ireland. WTFudge..??!!!

Darnit!!!!! Now need to find penpals in some foreign country to organise billing. My day is ruined!!!!

Anyone tried these guys out? It was mentioned in the EC comments on the article about the UK price increase:

https://app.staylive.io/cycling/subscriberoadcycling

Looks like SA falls into Group 1 which gets everything on their platform which includes a lot of one day classics.

Looks like ASO has now also done an exclusive deal with Discovery to broadcast TdF. Wonder what that’s going to mean for us? Will super sport still get the rights to the feed, or will it become a mess like it’s become with XCO/DH

Looks like quite a nice option for March/April/May. But this comment on their site (https://app.staylive.io/cycling/calendar-roadcycling) -

"* Flanders Classic (Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Gent-Wevelgem, Dwars Door Vlaanderen, Ronde Van Vlaanderen, Scheldeprijs, De Brabantse Pijl, Amstel Gold Race, Brussels Cycling Classic) available in the following countries only: Albania, Bangladesh, Cyprus, Greece, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Israel, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macao, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan."

reduces the value rather considerably :(

Maybe March + May?

I used to cast from my phone but found lots of buffering and video and dialogue out of sync asa  result  - not a problem until you notice a woman talking like a man or vice versa.

It’s almost as if Warner Brothers really doesn’t understand what they are doing with Cycling broadcasting. As if they want to alienate fans and drive down veiwership.

How much money are they paying the UCI in kickbacks or whatever to effectively kill cycling for the fans? Surely someone at the UCI must have known what the plan was when they chose this deal over extending the red bull deal?

Read an article over the weekend that was done with one of the Warner Brothers big bosses. I could not help observe some tone of arrogance. Also an attitude that sounded like - "we only in reality need a third of our user base to jump to the new price to break even - the rest can cancel". Wow....the article concluded that this will do much more damage than good to get people on board to watch cycling.

MTB as a competitive sport is actually booming in the gravity zone. Red Bull are adding more Hardline races and urban DH events and there are continental series being started to get newer riders into the DHWC which is now more limited in team numbers but will be  highly competitive.  I certainly don't support the "Big Media" take over, but its not all doom and gloom.

Pretty sure there is someone high up at cecil nurse/marriott who wants to watch TdF come hell or high water. would be very surprised to see this one drop off

I think we read the same article. What does my head in is why the UCI back this? Surely they knew what was coming. It not as if RedBull wasn’t willing to carry on, they made it clear they were, but their bid wasn’t even considered.

TdF is a different story, as ASO owns that event and it’s their call who they sign with. But XCO/DH is directly under UCI control, and surely they have an interest in growing the sports worldwide, which should include a plan that makes it more accessible,  not less so.
