I don't see a topic for this year's Munga yet?

Anybody seen the start list yet?

Contenders to watch?

On social media I see Willie "Smurfy" Smit is lining up! Should be fun dot watching how he goes. He must certainly be in it to win it..

Drikus Coetzee

Willie Smit

There is the battle for top spot. I reckon Drikus will come out on top.

And in the ladies field it's going to be hard to bet against Jenny Close. She has put in some solid work these last couple of months.

Maybe people are bored with a 1000km sufferfest in the karoo heat?

I know there are loads of people who keep on going back for more, and yes it sure is a tough challenge. The race has a few possible narratives (sometimes there's even a bit of podium action to keep it entertaining) but it's kind of the same story each year just with different names. Smurfy is doing it, rad. there's a long list of roadpros who came in with serious legs and ended up in a foetal position crying into their chamois, hopefully he can avoid that trap.

Each to their own, I'd rather use time and fitness (and entry RRR) on something I find a little less futile (imho).

ps.

oh, this is actually just a clickbaity post to get more action on @gemmerbal and is fund raising efforts in this race!

You will also note former Springbok prop Jannie du Plessis on the startline, riding for their cause as parents who have lost kids. I think its called “they ride along”. And another former rugby player Tobie Oosthuizen. Michael Mol also taking on his second Munga. So its quite a field insofar as celebrities is concerned.

I’m 💩 my pants. Half excited half scared. Dont know why. But, its all for a greater cause as mentioned earlier, think we are up to around R40k thats been raised so far so Im extremely thankful for the generosity displayed by each and every one. I’ll try my best to upload short videos to my instagram account as I go along, just to keep everyone entertained. Im expecting an emotional rollercoaster but thats kind of the idea behind the munga when i listen to Alex Harris speak about the event.

Anyways, hopefully i sleep better than last night. My flight to Bloem is in the morning so here goes nothing…
