DRIVETRAIN

When riding in the 12/39 I get this annoying chain noise, Ok at first I thought it was the chain rubbing against the front derailler then I often adjusted the derailler...it persisted!!smiley7.gif

Last nite while on the trainer I had a closer look and found that the chain is actually grating against the big blade only when you in the 12/39 rings...no other ratio's have this effect...

Ok so I was told you not meant to ride in 12/39 & it's not what it was made for ???????? I don't buy that honestly !!!

Any other ideas as to what I can do or suggestions please ????? I my rings bent or can I out in spacers or what ????

What groupset? Even though everyone says you are not meant to ride that ratio, on a properly set up bike you should be able to use every gear ratio. I can run my 11/39 if i want... I don't, but I can. I can also run my 53/23 or 53/25 (depending on which wheels) But I use Campy Record... And correctly set up.

DT, ja, wat die ander opuens s? is waar tot 'n mate.  Maar moenie sommer net daai storie aanvaar omdat almal so s? nie.

Dit hang af van fiets tot fiets.  (As jy 'n wye BB het, sit jou chainrigs meer na regs)   Ek het 'n 52/42 chainring set en op die 42 kan ek enigeen van my klein ratte gebruik, no problem.  Dis omdat die klein chainring presies reg oor die middelste klein rat sit.

However, die 52 gebruik ek gladnie op my grootste 2 gears agter nie.

As jy jou 39 regtig wil gebruik saam met die 12, sit 'n wyer BB inBig%20smile.  Jy sal dan net nie meer die 53 op so baie van die ratte kan gebruik nieOuch.

You can but you shouldn't.

My campy record can, but I wouldn't. My shimano groupset can't, even if I wanted to.

A 39/12 gives you a 3.25 ratio. A 52/16 gives you the same.

That's what I said. My Campy can, but I don't. My shimano could, but it was only 9spd...
