Looking at FINISHERS over the past two plus decades.............
If they say 12000 entrants then this will mean an increase in general.

I note all my results in Excel over all the years.  Those were the ones I did so I have the stats at hand

Usually a big difference between finishers and number of entries claimed by organiser

Jip.
And these days not even accurate entry numbers are given.
Because its just a number that no one can prove or disprove.  

 

But the finishers figure gives you a fair indication as to what the numbers are.
The only time the finisher figure will be skewed is when there is rain or heavy wind where the 'normal' DNF and DNS will increase because of adverse weather avoidance.

I heard they are down to 3500 entries this year and the expo has been cancelled. Anyone know if that is true?

There is still an expo but its only on the Saturday. Last I heard there were 12 000 entries. I don't think it would be even worthwhile hosting the event for 3000 riders.
