Event Name: The Stanford 100 Miler
When: 07/12/2024
Where: Stanford Hills Estate, Stanford, Western Cape
Category: Gravel

The Stanford 100 Miler is a one day race in the heart of the Overstrand.

The best part of Stanford is its proximity to equally beautiful towns, Gansbaai, Pearly Beach, Hermanus, Franskraal, Elim, Baarskeedersbos and L’Agulhas, the Southernmost tip of Africa.

2024 will be the third instalment of the hugely successful Stanford 100 Miler, brought to you by the people who bring you the cycling circus deep in the heart of the Tankwa Karoo, The Tanqua Kuru Bicycle Race.

Choose between:

100 MILER - 169KM - 2358M - 80% DIRT

or

50 MILER - 77KM - 1365M - 90% DIRT

Top tip: Don't underestimate this route. This filly kicks hard. Some say there are still a few riders out there.

Not sure anyone looking at the route would underestimate it!

Keen for Saturday, had big FOMO last year (was busy building up my gravel bike at the time)

I've done the first 2 editions of this race and sorry to be missing this one - it's a very lekker ride and as noted, a toughie too.

Lost my Wahoo Roam and half a mounting bracket around the 78km mark if anyone has info 🙏

In case nobody picked it up, message Murray, their Hermanus crew usually ride those routes.

The Instagram story coverage on this event was super amazing. I think I may just dust off my gravel bike.

Check out the entry fee, you might change your mind again.

  • Early bird pricing until 31 May: R1250 - 100 Miler

  • Late pricing 15 November to 30 November: R1850 - 100 Miler

I approve of this level of slacker tax.

Ag. I almost never race. I'm keen for a scenic experience and memorable weekend. Will make a getaway family weekend of it. Lekkerslaap.co.za and woodfire tub vibes.

I don’t think this is unreasonable for a 50 miler. The price does includes beer and lunch. Their pricing is also similar to Round the Pot which is a much bigger event that has sponsors.

I think for us ballies race is a very strong word.

There will likely be a bunch of us going up next year. It's a decent excuse to get out of town, and there's a decent brewery out there too.
