All the best for the race /ride/survival tactics tomorrow. Looks like a fast wind swept trip to Hell, folllwed by a fast trip to prison then a struggle through the wine before the head wind climb at Riebeeck Kasteel. Should be able to get some rest again after Malmesbury for the trip home.

Weather was great but I can t be sure because I didn’t get further than the place that guy lost His life two weeks ago. Someone at the head of C was head down going balls to the wall with all of us strung out behind. Then I hear the scream of dread and all I know is the guy infront of me switched left, clipped my front wheel and I was doing a right leg balancing act till I hit a bloke laying in the road then it was leave some skin behind time.

shyte happens I guess but these accidents are just too common 😫🤕

That's horrible to hear. Hope the bike is ok.

Losing my appetite for peleton riding. Tried to ride away from a DC team that was leading my group of stragglers because they were scaring me. 45kmph in a bunch of 20 riders with hands on the tops  and overlapping the wheel in front of him .... Turning around to see where his mates are .... Makes me nervous.

Anyway, was a good day out even though my report card has read "mamil doesn't play well with others" since grade 1.

Great ride, nice weather and the parking at the new venue was perfect (entering and exiting). 👌

It definitely feels safer the further up you start. Only saw one dropped bottle and nothing else dodgy. 🙏

Happy to finish comfortably under 5hrs. 😎

So frustrating this. Incident happened a couple of meters to the left in front of me, fortunately I managed to get around the sliding bikes and rider, turned to look back and just saw chaos.
Trust you are okay and heel up soon.

Ouch 😵

Hope you and your bike is okay.

A couple of friends did the DC group ride thing. Came in just under 6 hours.  They say there a couple of spots with bad wind.  Otherwise a good day out.

thanks guys, yeah I'm ok, just  and banged up and bruised right side from my scapula area to my hip.

Both wheels were badly buckled which is what forced my withdrawal from the race. Bars and left shifter were bent out of position. The nature of the Blade RS steerer tube meant i couldn't straighten it without undoing the stem bolts which is not something you want to do at the side of a road. Also I'll need to dismantle the stem and steerer to inspect it for damage before I ride it in earnest again.

Dc team jersey F****d....fortunately I have a new one

These accidents are so unnecessary. I don't understand the thinking of sprinting off the line  in a 170km race. Anyway I've been very lucky in the past 38years of my road racing so I guess my turn had to come around at some point. Maybe its the thrust I need to pick up the training intensity.

Wheels off to Williams tomorrow for repair
