Oh boy! My six yearly race seems to be next year. Paying it off is a good idea. Long range motivation activated. But now its between atta and big5. Never did big5 and it is a race that will suit me. Need to win the lottery so I can just blerrie do all the races and have no fomo!

Does anyone know what the Attakwas Half is like? I know its also probably pretty brutal but how technical is the route?

The first 70kms of full is the real brutal part of the Extreme that softens you up for the open rollers on latter part.

With the half only covering the 2nd part of the Extreme i cant see it being technical at all with the terrain being significantly less brutal than the extreme. 

My view anyway.

Might be totally wrong, but I think the half starts and ends at the finish line resort and follows gravel roads in the area?

Yes it does start and finish there but the description says it to be a little more challenging than gravel roads

Anyone else on the fence about entering for next year's event?

Seems a bit strange that there is no option of tented accommodation at or near the start venue, as with the Prince George and so many others.

Great event but stupid expensive so I have skipped some, but I have some unfinished business after the heat waves of 2022 and 2024 so will give it a go again next year

Same here. I need one more to make it 5. My last finish was in 2019. I bailed at WP 2 in the heat in 2022. So I've been carrying this unfinished business with me for a while. I am considering 2026.

I've got unfinished business to get my Ratel. Did 2009,2010,2011 and 2018. I recall my fastest was just under 9 hours, so not fast by any stretch of the imagination. If I can get my winter training going properly I'd like to give it a proper go next year to tick that ratel off my list.

In true Attakwas spirit, it seems #SurviveAttakwas should be changed to #UnfinishedBusiness

 

I had a good run to get 9 in a row from 2013-2021 and also got of at WP1 (it was 38.7 degrees at 09:12) at the 2022 event

 

So i figured it would be cool if i can get my number 10 on the 20th anniversary event
