Yup, unfortunately/fortunately that section of road is still washed away, so you can expect the same cyclocross action as last year. 🤘

Oof 😆

My CX fumbled dismount is captured in the video at timestamp 10s...

I dismount at heart rate of 170bpm, remount at 190bpm due to sprinting across the rocks, straight into a 5min just below 5W/kg smash up the climb to catch a small group, then rolling turns over 5W/kg for 7min to catch the main pack (that's chasing the break of 4) only to puncture just before the farm section and then puncture twice more. Died a thousands deaths before the final climb even started!

It was my second ever gravel race, so running the wrong tyres and pressures didn't help...

Is the route the same as last year - the Strava uploads I see are 120km but the website says 110km?

Not super concerned about the distance, just want to know if I can use last year's uploads as gpx for my Garmin

Comparing 2023/2024 there is a 10km difference which looks like a portion added on a farm off the R317, they could have removed that section this year

The route this year is a mix of 2023 and 2024's routes.

We've added the Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve section back in and chopped off the long tar bit after the reserve. All the farms sections are still in.

Looking forward to seeing all of you grinding on Saturday!!!

(*The farms have only granted us access for race day. Please do not trespass on any private land before or after the race. 🙏)

Hey Bro Derek,

All human powered bikes are allowed to ride.

Gravel bikes are the best tool for the job if you're racing, there are a handful of really short sections that might be easier on an MTB, but G Bikes seems to be the fastest option for the route.

@Jewbacca smashed it last year on a BMX wearing Jorts, what a legend.

The smashing went both ways!

His BMX record is up for whoever wants it the most.

Why do I have a sneaky suspicion we won't be too vrolik about this section..? 😆

@The Gallows reacting to my post, but not elaborating has me even more worried. Why was the reserve not in last year's route? Too gnarly?

It favours the MTB's a bit more yes. Also there was a few portages here last time but I'm sure I could maybe have tried the sections on my MTB but being caught behind the group and everyone getting off was bad positioning on my part. Don't be in that (last/back) position...

Anyone looking for an entry? I got one before the last price increase. Not looking like I'll have a gravel bike for it, I'd ride it on my MTB if there was nothing else that weekend but since it colides with Slanghoek, I'd rather race that one on a competitive bike
