I FLY Posted November 24, 2006 Share So did you look hot? Well I did my best...Tania (Raats) and I arrived in Joburg at 5:30. Got to the hotel at er 6:35. The thing started at 7:00. Im proud to say I went from scruffy mtn bike girl to less scruffy' date=' elegant lady in 20 min. Tania took 5 min longer, but then she had to blow dry her hair...oh the trials and tribulations. Our escort nearly fell over because we were so quick! [/quote'] I think that all the men at the function fell over when they saw the transformation of the female cyclists into elegant ladies. Only give-aways were the tan lines and their walking in high heels.
Zipp Posted November 24, 2006 Share Get your facts straight. Talking about getting facts straight... I see Wilhelm de Swardt got journalist of the year. Now that guy seriously needs to get his facts straight. Nearly every article he writes has untrue facts in it, and it's not like it's hard to get the right facts, but he still gets it wrong. goofs Posted November 24, 2006 Share now I wanna see the response to this. How many of you souties would be happy to be interviewed in afrikaans? you probarly won't hear them again on this thread. No problem been there done that already however would you feel the same if they interviewed Sifiso as SA BMX champ and he responded in an indigenous african language. Zipp Posted November 24, 2006 Share Very good point Goofs. The only reason people are disagreeing about this is because they are proud to be Afrikaans, which is fair, but the point is, regardless of what language was spoken, the person being interviewed did not answer in a language that the person interviewing her could understand, which is simply inconsiderate. Full stop.

cyclemania Posted November 26, 2006 Share Zipp..... I agree. Between Paul and Phil they understand French/ Italian and Spanish enough to understand the interview. But Afrikaans theydon't. I have no problem with Marissa speaking Afrikaans but for me it justshow respect to the world two top commentators. They would have longer chats toher if they understood her. Tube Posted November 26, 2006 Share I cannot believe that you guys are still going on about her speaking Afrikaans. Some of you are repeating yourself,it is actually very funny. Cyclemania according to you Phil said very sarcastic is she going to speak Afri aans, I saw it in a funny and positive way,but if you are a negative person you will find fault with everything around you no matter what.I am more worried about some hubbers than Phil and Paul, they travel all over the world doing what the feel passionate about, language are not going to stop them asking questions or getting feedback in some language that they cannot understand.90% of the time the response is for the audience . But that is only my view.Has anybody went and asked her why she spoke Afrikaans,no, so we will rather gossip.
