slowtwitch Posted March 13, 2010 Share Lance was too modest. He should have asked at least R250 000 pp for that ride. It would still have been booked full and could've raised more money But what a great way of using your talent and celeb status
mtgoat Posted March 13, 2010 Share Some people miss the point. Lance has raised millions and the people that rode get a 175k tax right off (charity contributions). Win win if you ask me, and they got to meet a legend. popular or not it is something I would love to tell my grand kids.
kosmonooit Posted March 13, 2010 Share Can I just get the facts tr8 here please. Did everyone have to pay R175k each to do that ride OR did they raise R175k for charity in total? I am confused (as always)Anyway for those that have the tom, its better spent that way that Chrystal and Charlie

Kent Posted March 15, 2010 Share Last Friday a few mates and i had the privledge of riding with Lance for about an hour and a half. It was really surreal being on the wheel of a living cycling legend. He makes riding the big blade look so effortless. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I'm the guy in the Cervelo kit. Wont forget this for a while

Yang Posted March 15, 2010 Share I too was one of the lucky ones who was able to join Lance on a ride and didnt have to pay R175k!! Guys, for those of you who don't know.... You all know how Lance tweeted in Aussie and Ireland that he was going for a training ride and people were welcome to join him and 1000's did? Well, he wanted to do the same thing in Cape Town. Someone with influence warned him against it. Imagine the scene- thouands upon 1000's of cyclists coming out. The traffic chaos would have been worse. The scenes would have been apocalytic (for the Slow 1's who tend to be minus IQ'd, that means disastrous). So if it had not been for 1000's of fans, finite road space, and individuals on the ride who would be embarrassing to be associated with, especially the Slow 1's, we could have had the opportunity to ride with him. Congrats to all who rode with him. May you long cherish the experience, and share the story with many, of the day that you rode with an institution and a living legend. Would have loved to do that, even if I had to ride behind him. These things only happens to a few lucky one's once in their life times.
