What group did you start in, think I might have seen you? Did a 3h54 on a 26er with slicks. To be honest I found it frustrating not to be able to keep up with the groups on the straights and downhills (uphills were better  ) Will get myself a proper roadbike before the next Argus.

Hi Skubarra i started in U and you ?

2 Guys in VB on 29ers. One finished in 2.52 , the other one a minute or so later

Maybe I should try a 29'er. I can't even get a 2:52 on my road bike :(.

A special place in hell where they make you ride the Champery DH on a fixie with no brakes.

Did a 3h28 in 2007 on a Giant ATX 890 with medium width slicks and tallish 1994 LX crank gearing. Its still horrible compared to riding a road bike with drops and proper narrow tyres...

I saw spans of them. But they just look like road bikes with flat bars.

I'll get my coat...

Apologies if this has been mentioned. Is there a specific MTB Argus Group or do you just ride in the group you have been seeded along with the road cyclists?

No - no specific MTB group. So in theory you could do all your seeding rides on a road bike and then ride the Argus on a MTB (or the other way round).

The more relvant question now is did they do it on a 29er or 26er. Those breaking the 3 hr mark on a 26er - serious respect!

I started in HH with my Specialized Stumpjumper 29er with knoblies.

Did a 3:26

Rode to and from race back to Bellville. Total time and distance: 171km; 5:51

Thought I was about to get heat stroke back past Hillcrest.
