  1. out of interest Frosty, how do you plan you're routes ? I've been watching GCN and the presenters have done some routes etc. and it got me itching to ride different roads. The thing is, I'll most likely be riding solo, so picking the routes doesnt just need to take road surface, elevation and scenery into account but also my own safety.
  2. Once a week a wipe with a rag to get rid of excess muck and then a re-lube. Every second to third week degreaser and a tooth brush and then a re-lube. This weekend I built a chain keeper out of wood so that I can do the degreaser thing with the wheel off. Its actually much easier. Re: removing the chain to clean. I read and article the other day where it said that if you're using the supplied quick link on the chain to remove and refit all the time it can weaken it leading to chain failure. From my own experience I have noticed that its easier to undo the quick link now than it was the first time
  3. Fake it till you make it baby. Some of us are still faking it.
  4. surely you should be getting more than 3000km on a chain ? Flip there are people doing that mileage in a month, cant imagine having to change chains on a monthly basis.
  5. That brings back all sorts of memories.
  6. I cant get my 10 year old daughter to ride straight up and down a road with confidence. But if i show this to my 5 year old daughter she'll probably be trying it the next day. On Sunday she finally rode her bike without training wheels, after a few rides up and down the street she started going on and off the pavements already.
  7. I got stung last year october, right between the eyes. Stung like hell on the way home, got home, wife pulled stinger out and all was good. But that night i could feel my face swelling up and by the next morning my face looked like the Oros man. Off to ER, put on a drip, got antihistamines and adrenaline and then a course of antihistamines for the next week. I've never been alregic to bees before, have been stung a few times out on rides, this is the first time I swelled up, i suspect it had to do with either the sweat getting in or when my wife pulled the stinger out she squeezed the area thereby pushing the toxins in.
  8. any carrier where, with the bikes on, your number plate is obscured.
  9. Had a cop coming from the opposite direction go all the way around the big circle in BW to stop us and try and issue fine for no plate, luckily it was there, just hanging lower down than what he expected. Then he wanted to fine us for expired license disc, after pointing out that we were within the 21 day grace period he reluctantly let us go
  10. I bought to keep in my commuting bag as a backup. That 200m could mean anything, will give it a test alongside my 1000 Lumens Lezyne light and report back.
  11. onedayonly has a set of front and rear lights on sale today https://www.onedayonly.co.za/rechargeable-led-front-rear-bike-light-20200804.html Doesnt state brand or Lumens, but for the price to keep as a backup its probably not bad. I've ordered a set.
  12. ouzohotlover69 cant be that interesting of a username could it ?
  13. Looks like they fixed the "export to GPX" issue.
  14. Digging up an old thread. Got 2 random Kudos this morning for my commute, one from Brazil the other from New South Wales. Dont know if I should be worried, profile pics on both of these are old grey haired tannies.
  15. I managed to do it from the PC, then emailed it to my phone and imported.
  16. when I try and download from Strava (using my phone) I only get a 32kb file, doesnt seem to download the entire file.
  17. its a road bike if that makes any difference
  18. sweet, Route planned on Komoot. now just to arrange.
  19. interesting, can you get through on the bike ? how far from R25 towards PTA is the sinkhole ? I've been planning to do a coffee run to one of my brother in laws restaurants and that was the planned route, if the road is quiet now and passable with a bike its a good time then to do it.
  20. what this thread is telling me is that MTB guys are to soft to be roadies.

    Shaving

I did something similar when I first started shaving my legs, but at the back of the knee up the tendon that runs towards the hamstring. 20 years later the emotional scars are still there, hence that being the hairiest part of my leg. I first had my legs shaved by a lady "friend" about 20 years ago (what we men do for a little leg over action). But I enjoyed the feeling of having no hair. As a hairy bastard it made a big difference to feel. A little while later I met my now wife, she enjoyed the look of my legs hairless, so I kept shaving. If it was up to me and hair removal wasnt such a big continuous schlep I'd have no hair from the neck down. I just enjoy the feeling of not having hair on the body.
  22. Sounds like a bike fit problem After my bikefit with Richard the sore hands and triceps went away.
  23. what the others have said. in this order but add drop the pressures in the tyre slightly, you're running 28s carbon bars do actually make a small difference, and double wrapped carbon bars are even better HTFU
  24. Looks like there may still be some issues that they are resolving. I usually go the the connect.garmin website on my phone and export the gpx file of my ride to import it into cyclemeter, its meen throwing up an error the last few days when I try. Even tried from the pc and same thing. (I still dont know why there isnt an option to export the gpx file from the app)
  25. Definitely got a 3:45 in me. Did a 3:56 today, and that’s after stopping at the traffic light as the segment starts so that I could chat to some guy who doesn’t know about social distancing, and then giving up 3/4 of the way up so I backed off. Oh, and I stared the segment on Strava, and because I’m friends with LWB on Strava my Garmin was displaying his time as the time to beat.
